Nawaz's support of Taliban is security risk to Pak

What would you call this: Pervez Musharraf: Taliban is not the problem for Afghanistan

I guess he hasn’t completed his own u-turn yet. He did a ‘peace deal’ with taliban in 2006. What about that?

The deal has been severely criticized in the western press with one editorial describing it as "the terms of surrender by Pakistan to the Taliban and al Qaeda".[8] Another column termed it as an "unconditional surrender of Waziristan" by Pakistan, adding that the deal is "a boon to the terrorists and a humiliation for the Pakistani government."[9] Some other newspapers have commented that the deal is a "short-term defeat" that risked the wrath of its US allies to secure "long-term strategic gains"; and quoted a retired Pakistan general as saying it was a "tactical retreat".[10] Additionally, it was argued that "since initiated, all of the deals have failed, precipitating a resurgence of Taliban hostilities.

It is also suggested that he helped Taliban around 2006-07 to get (threatened) US support for the elections A Taliban Comeback?

Musharraf’s real aim is to get unqualified US endorsement for his re-election as president for another five-year term, while retaining his post as army chief. Thus, recent statements by senior US officials, including National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley, demanding free and fair elections in 2007 and civilian control over the Pakistan, disturb Pakistani generals

My aim is not to discuss Musharraf here, but just quoted him as an example. At one point in time or other, almost everyone in Pakistan has been sympathetic to Taliban in Afghanistan seeing them as a buffer to Indian influence there.
