Nawaz Sharif makes a deal with Master Card, Ch. Nisar cancels it

It is clear that Nawaz Sharif is upto something here.
Its a major security issue, giving access to NADRA to an overseas company.
Didn’t we learn from Ajmal Qassab’s episode. This data can be misused by enemies of Pakistan.
Ch. Nisar here is clearly pushed to take this step on Army’s concerns.

Question is why would Nawaz Sharif do such a deal without discussing it in parliament.

I wouldnt jump the gun as of yet unless I see what was the exact deal that NS made with master card. Not sure if govt trade deals are subject to assembly approvals. I guess not.

My whole point was that giving out access to national database is not in any nation’s interest. And Pakistan PM is not expected to make such high risk decision without consulting stake holder. uskay baap ki jaagir nahi hai Pakistan.

This seems more like a case of Nawaz stepping on Ch.Nisar’s toes than anything else. Otherwise, its not a big deal. Nawaz Sharif signed the MOU with mastercard on befalf of NADRA while in Davos. Ch. Nisar is upset only because NADRA falls under his domain, and he wants to have the final say.

The deal was to let overseas Pakistanis with mastercards remit money using their CNIC as an identifier. And Ch. Nisar’s claim was that releasing CNIC numbers would compromise security. I guess its ok when TV channels plaster NIC cards on their channels, whether they belong to a living or dead person.
