Nawaz Sharif Did Not Know About Kargil

We all know he is stupid, i didn’t know to that an extent . Clinton gave him big jolts when he was there in 1999 to ask for reconciliation on Kargil.

=====================================

Read This Actual Conversation Between Clinton And Nawaz, Word For Word
This is an excerpt from the book by Strobe Talbot, the former senior U.S. Department of State official, who was in the room with Bill Clinton when the U.S. president received Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, then the Pakistani prime minister, who came to see Clinton regarding the war in Kargil:

“Kargil War between India and Pakistan took place between May and July 1999 in the Kargil district of Kashmir. According to India the cause of the war was the infiltration of Pakistani soldiers and Kashmiri militants into positions on the Indian side of the Line of Control, which serves as the de facto border between the two states. During and directly after the war, Pakistan blamed the fighting entirely on independent Kashmiri insurgents, but documents left behind by casualties and later statements by Pakistan’s Prime Minister and Chief of Army Staff showed involvement of Pakistani paramilitary forces. The Indian Army, supported by the Indian Air Force, attacked the Pakistani positions and, with international diplomatic support, eventually forced a Pakistani withdrawal across the Line of Control (LoC).

**At the height of the Kargil conflict, former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is said to have told then US President Bill Clinton that he was prepared to help resolve the crisis if India committed to settle the ‘larger issue’ of Kashmir in a specific time-frame, but the American leader snubbed him saying it would amount to a ‘nuclear blackmail.’ When Sharif visited Washington in 1999 to discuss Kargil with Clinton, he insisted, ‘I am prepared to help resolve the current crisis in Kargil but India must commit to resolve the larger issue in a specific time-frame,’ former US deputy secretary of State Strobe Talbot writes in his new book Engaging India - Diplomacy, Democracy and the Bomb. **

‘Clinton came as close as I had ever seen to blowing up in a meeting with a foreign leader,’ and told Sharif, ‘If I were the Indian Prime Minister, I would never do that. I would be crazy to do it. It would be nuclear blackmail. If you proceed with this line, I will have no leverage with them. If I tell you what you think you want me to say, I will be stripped of all influence with the Indians.’ ‘I am not - and the Indians are not - going to let you get away with blackmail, and I will not permit any characterization of this meeting that suggests I am giving in to blackmail,’ Talbot writes, adding, Clinton also refuted Sharif’s accusation that the Indians were the instigators of the crisis and intransigents in the ongoing standoff. When Sharif insisted he had to have something to show for his trip to the US beyond unconditional surrender over Kargil, Clinton pointed to the dangers of nuclear war if Pakistan did not return to its previous positions. Seeing they were getting nowhere, Clinton told Sharif he had a statement ready to release to press that would lay all the blame for the crisis on Pakistan. ‘Sharif was ashen.’

‘Clinton had worked himself back into real anger - his face flushed, eyes narrowed, lips pursed, cheek muscles pulsing, fists clenched. He said it was crazy enough for Sharif to have let his military violate the Line of Control, start a border war with India, and now prepare nuclear forces (U.S. had received intelligence Pakistan was preparing nuclear forces for attack against India) for action,’ Talbot says in his book. ‘Sharif seemed beaten, physically and emotionally’ and denied he had given any order with regard to nuclear weaponry. Taking a break, Clinton spoke to then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee over phone and told him what had happened until then. ‘What do you want me to say?’ Vajpayee asked. ‘Nothing,’ Clinton replied, he just wanted to show he was holding.”

Now Nawaz Sharif and his paid clients in Pakistani politics and media are blaming Musharraf for Kargil, claiming he had no idea about Kargil, when even Clinton knew that it was planned by Nawaz Sharif and the paid retired officers who are now singing the song of Noon League.

The question is: If Nawaz Sharif didn’t know about Kargil, why was he negotiating on Kashmir in such a confident way with Clinton?

It’s Nawaz’s word against Talbot’s, but we already know who is not telling the truth. With due respect to Mr. Sharif, if he can lie about not signing a deal to save himself from jail in 2000, he can lie about anything.

Stop destabilizing Pakistan and showing the whole world our dirty laundry. Both you and your personal enmities are not more important than Pakistan, its people and its interest.

Re: Nawaz Sharif Did Not Know About Kargil

The media never said he did not know about Kargil, everyone knew about Kargil, it was a matter of who orchestrated the tactical offensive, and how, and Nawaz sharif is no tactical expert, nor does he have any military skills. This was one badly operation gibraltor/grand slam like venture pulled off by Musharraf, and there was some success in the first phase, out of the three, but that was because of the element of surprise, after that India got back to us. Naturally, someone had to go talk about a retreat, or still try to make the best out of this mess by diplomatic means.

And he made a mess of that too. Along with no military skills, Nawaz does not posse any diplomatic skills either.

Yes, & Mushrraf has all the skills. This man humiliated the country in front of entire world & for that all he deserves to be hanged.

Pakistan is not humiliated. It actually gained respect under him. Why are you lying?

Re: Nawaz Sharif Did Not Know About Kargil

^ No its not, under Musharrafs reign of terror, Pakistan emerged as the global hub of terrorism and extremism in the face of the world, quite different from its image in the past. His ugly face on media babbling in his fake punjabi accent 'vee veeel do this that' didnt help either.

Yes, our great image in the past under bhutto and nawaz. We were bankrolling the taliban all that time and were close to be being declared a terrorist state. Your posts are becoming a joke.

More Nawaz lies exposed…

Nawaz approved Kargil ‘misadventure’: new book

  • Book claims Rabbani offered 0.5m Afghans for ‘Kashmir jihad’

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief and former premier Nawaz Sharif was aware of the situation in Kargil in 1999 through the then defence secretary who had been briefed on the situation, a new book on the Pakistan Army has quoted a senior army official as saying.

The book, ‘Crossed Swords’, by former army chief Asif Nawaz’s brother Shuja Nawaz, quotes Lieutenant General Khawaja Ziauddin as saying that Nawaz was “in the loop”. Quoting excerpts, The Hindustan Times said on Friday that if the account were correct, it conflicted with Nawaz’s denials that he was not aware of what Musharraf and his generals had planned during Kargil. “It backs Musharraf’s contention that ‘everyone was on board’ the Kargil misadventure,” the report adds.

Shuja’s interview with Ziauddin, who was Inter-Services Intelligence boss during Kargil, also reveals that Mullah Muhammad Rabbani, the Afghan president in 1999, offered Pakistan 500,000 Afghan ‘volunteers’ for the Kashmir ‘jihad’. daily times monitor

I am surprised how people even talk of Nawaz as leader or give any value to his words. Nawaz has no character. He is a low grade liar, thief and thug. He knows nothing other than nepotism, loot and plunder. He is crook with retarded brain.

Re: Nawaz Sharif Did Not Know About Kargil

lol...how NS could have known about Kargil while he was playing crickcet and shopping in America the whole time...

Yeah giving statements like women lining up for rape to get fame / asylum elsewhere brought "respect" for some people, writing a book while being president of a country is respectable too.

Its a shame that Musharraf pities terrorists, probably thats why he befriends likes of Altaf Hussein too, no wonder Indian spy was released as well.

haha its funny how he came up with that stupid 175 seat prediction like theory to somehow prove altaf isnt a convicted terrorist :hehe:

First sign of Munafiq is that he lies blatantly. Nawaz and his goons of PML(N) are such habitual liars that they lie not only blatantly but ridiculously and unashamedly. They lie regardless of there is any reason or not. If they are standing next to river and someone would ask what flowing in river, they would say orange juice.

I have got nothing against PML(N) but I have never seen such blatant liars in my life, and three of the most blatant liars I have ever seen are all from PML(N), and they are Ishaq Daar, Ahsan Iqbal and their choor leader Nawaz Thuggu. Seeing them uttering blatant lies continuously and unashamedly, now I could not trust anything from them, even if I feel that they might be telling truth. For instance, if these crooked thugs would say that they are men then I would start suspecting about their manhood too. I would not be surprised if to fool voters, pathetic liar Nawaz Thuggu in near future would start claiming that he is not Nawaz Shareef Thuggu but Nawaz Bhutto brother of BeNazir Bhutto and his dad was Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

LOL!!! Nahin yaar, ganja never said orange juice he said milk and honey! But then all our great leaders say that don't they..

This thread is about Nawaz Sharif and his big lies, (don't try to derail it with Altaf Hussain etc) whenever it comes to any other corrupt politician in Pakistan.

Nawaz Sharif is full of lies , he won't even budge at world level.

1) It is true

2) You are a liar... and ur posts are here to prove it.

You surprised me by accepting my first statement true as I was not expecting anyone who supports Nawaz to tell truth even if it is obvious truth :)

As for second statement, when you accused me of lie, you stooped to same level as your pathetic leaders :). You accused without any knowledge of language or person you accued. I know that every crook considers other person crook, but fact is that, even my second statement is sterling true.

It is fact that I have nothing against PML(N) as PML(N) is a party and one cannot hate or have grudge with a party (unless one is mentally retard that we have many around in Pakistan, even on this forum). I do not have even anything against PML(N) leaders or members, as they are all humans and I do not hate humans (all are creation of Allah, and I could not hate whoever or whatever Allah created).

Well, saying that, I hate those who are corrupts, thugs, crooks, plunderers, and especially liars, not their person but they due to their characters. If I find that they have learned, got ashamed of their dubious character full of mistakes and really changed than they are fine to me (though, still not in public offices).

I hate PML(N) leaders because they are blatant liars, still if you will check my posts (each one of my posts), you will notice that I have never named PML(N) leaders indiscriminately, as I only named Nawaz and few others as corrupt and named liars only those about whom I am certain that they are liars (for instance Nawaz Thuggu, Ahsan Iqbal, and Ishaq Daar). Similarly, I believe that PPP is party of corrupts, but again I did not named anyone from that party indiscriminately but named only those about whom corruptions is well known (for instance, BB and Zardari).

Tell us again how Altaf Hussain was really behind Nawaz's Kargil misadventure?

You really are obsessed.

Re: Nawaz Sharif Did Not Know About Kargil

First tell me how I am confused if I name some characters from Star Wars. Is there a PEMRA like code of conduct some dictator asked me to sign, where I cant name any ugly characters from star wars to describe the don of karachi?
