Thats probably because Imran had been consistently speaking on the issue of terrorism throughout the run up to his campaign, so he became associated with certian perceptions of his policy. Sharif stayed silent on the issue for the most part and so never got tagged with any sort of label.
Obviously Imran had to constitute a base through his rhetoric while NS didn’t.
And NS has more deep rooted support, while imran is a newbie, so more prone to attack..
