Okay, winter is taking its toll on my normally oily skin and its peeling off from face. I would like some recommendations of exfoliation preferably with natural base items. Thanks!
Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
besan, ubtan, sugar
Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
How much besan, ubtan and sugar are you supposed to use SD?
Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
hehe i meant seperately....
i used to use besan a long time ago....it is kinda drying and harsh on skin.
ubtan is divine! u just mix it with water, rosewater, or milk and the skin feels really clean and soft after using it...
sugar i read somewhere is a natural exfoliant mixed with water too....but it mentioned using it on the body not face (i havent tried it )
Re: Natural Skin exfoliant

Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
Oatmeal works wonders if you take 2 tablespoon of oatmeal, 3 tablespoon of milk and 1 teaspoon of honey. Mix it well and let it sit for 5 minutes. After that apply to your face...leave it on for 10 minutes and once partially dry...start massaging in upward strokes and wash with warm water.
Use a banana mask afterwards if you are having dry peely skin which is very normal in this weather. For the mask just mash up half a banana and apply to your face leave it on for 15 minutes and wash with lukewarm water.
Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
hey thanks mahru- i tried it- some of the dry skin is gone. DO i repeat this daily till all the dry skin peels off?
Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
I am glad it worked for you, soorajmukhi. Just use it 2-3 times a week. Remember, anything in excess is bad:)
Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
Mahru: Will instant oatmeal work? Do I need to put it in warm milk so that it will get a bit soft? Thanks

Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
you can powder the dried orange peels and then use it as a exfoliant.. it even smells nice... :)
Found this nice tip from some where
"Mix four Tbs. of plain yogurt with two Tbs. of grated orange peel. Massage into skin for three minutes. Rinse with warm water. The yogurt is an exfoliant and the orange peel will extract dirt and oils. "
Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
When my skin feels dry and/or peels, i find mixing honey into oatmeal helps a lot. I usually leave it on for about 15 mins, before washing off with cool water.
Oatmeal also absorbs oil...so for some ppl it will make dry skin worse. In that case, u can use gram flour (besan?) instead.
And in colder weather, i sleep with olive oil on my face to help with peeling. I believe honey and olive oil r two things that r very good for ur skin in general, esp. in winter.
Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
Yes, those r very good! My mum spent ages once making me a orange peel paste…she had to grind and grind away, and i duno wot she mixed into it…but it did smell wonderful
and i remember i thought it was annoying to put on bcos bits of it wud dry and fall all over the place…and she thought i wasn’t grateful for all her hard work hehe! It’s supposed to help with scars and marks on ur skin too. But takes a bit of time to prepare, since i think u have to dry out the peels in the sun or something.
Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
Im really allergic to oatmeal last time i put it on my face and my face wa covred in red blotches....So watch out. Honey is realli gud also gives u a nice glow to the face if u'v got oily skin i think tree tea mask iz gud for that...
Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
im finding it really difficult to dry some orange peels, the r getting fungus :(
Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
Yes that happens a lot- perhaps you can dehydrate them in the oven?
Re: Natural Skin exfoliant
Here is a tip Nancy
“Use a fine-bladed paring knife to trim away just the colored part of the skin, leaving the bitter white part behind. Lay the strips skin-side down on a plate and let them dry at room temperature for 3-4 days, until they have shriveled and are no longer moist. Store the dried peel in a dark place, in a clean jar”
