I love to chew cardamom (mostly shell, not the seeds) after spicy food but now I am getting addicted to long (clove) Clove is turning out to be more amazing when it comes to deodorize the mouth..
What do you use? Sounf, illaichi, podeena or plain old gum?
**yes it is refreshing and leaves a nice flavour in the mouth. but, i will a word of caution that u may wanna consider.
my eldest brother who is now 58 years old. he did exactly the samething, believe it or not. when he quit smoking, he picked up the habit of chewing green cardamom [chhoTii ilaichii] then a year or two later he switched to clove [laung] he ate only the head part of the laung. he did this for about 3 years i believe and then it happened. he got internal bleeding and his stomack lining was damaged. he was in AligaRh where immediate medical help wasn’t available the kinda help he needed. he had to be transported to delhi some 130 kms away in the middle of the night where he went thru the treatment process. he was fine in a weeks time.
as a result, he eats only boiled food, no fat, very minute amount of salt, no spices. life isn’t that enjoyable when it comes to food. it has been roughly 10 years now and he is alHamdolillah fine.
May Allah never bring this to you so plz be cautious when u take laung over a long period of time…addiction to it is not good bro…moderation is of the essence. May Allah keep u in the best of health. aameen**
yeah I wanted to warn about long too .. coz it can cause extreme heat and burn or create ulcers in your stomach lining ... normally hakeems too dont recomend us eating long directly ..
I normally stick to saunf too .. I think its the best , has fibre as well ... is good for the eyes and digestion ... its the best one ...
Or just squeeze a fresh lemon in some water , bit of salt and enjoy it .. it freshens the mouth and gala really well ...
yes now that you all mention it, clove oil is very potent. Good for curing toothache but cause "heat" in the digestive tract cause heartburn and stomach ulcers.
Yeah I heard cinammon is a good one too .. but again not to be consumed in its bark form … powder it and then just a pinch is usually enough to freshen the mouth ..
PS .. dont attempt this in office , people will think you are on crack
