Good riddance to very ugly trash.

Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan | DAWN.COM

KABUL: A Nato airstrike in eastern Afghanistan targeting a group of insurgents near the Pakistani border killed at least 13 militants including Taliban leader Maulvi Dadullah on Friday, the international military coalition said.

Tehrik-e-Taliban (TTP) spokesman Ahsanullah Ahsan confirmed that Amir of the Taliban in Bajaur, Maulvi Dadullah had been killed in the Nato strike along with 12 other militants.

Dadullah reportedly took over after Bajur’s former Pakistani Taliban leader, Maulvi Faqir Mohammed, fled to Afghanistan to avoid Pakistani army operations.

He had reportedly claimed responsibility for last year’s kidnapping of 30 children who had mistakenly crossed the Pak-Afghan border and also on many attacks against security forces and government installations.

Ahsanullah Ahsan while talking to DawnNews exclusively said that Maulvi Abu Bakr had been appointed the caretaker Amir of the TTP.

The TTP spokesman added that the Taliban had plans to attack high profile targets in the country but refused to give further details on the pretext of security concerns.

It added that Dadullah’s deputy, identified only as Shakir, was also killed in the strike.

The strike in Afghanistan’s eastern Kunar province killed Maulvi Dadullah, the self-proclaimed Taliban leader in Pakistan’s Bajur tribal area that lies across the border, late Friday afternoon, coalition spokesman Maj Martyn Crighton said.

Crighton would not say whether an unmanned drone or manned aircraft had launched the missiles.

Pakistani intelligence officials said Dadullah and 19 others were killed in the attack. Initially, they said the strike was on Pakistani territory, but later they conceded it was in Afghanistan.

Conflicting reports out of the rugged and remote regions along the Afghan-Pakistan border are common shortly after an attack.

Kunar provincial official Aslam Gul Mujahid said the airstrike killed 20 people, including Dadullah. Pakistani intelligence officials said Dadullah and 19 others were killed, but they said the airstrike took place in Pakistan’s Bajur region, just across the border from Kunar.

The Pakistani intelligence officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief the media, said the strike occurred after a cross-border attack by Pakistani Taliban militants who came from Afghanistan.

Jahangir Azam Khattak, a local Pakistani government official, said dozens of militants attacked a Pakistani post manned by anti-Taliban militiamen in the Salarzai area of Bajur. He said six militants were killed and four tribesmen were wounded.

Two Pakistani militiamen also were killed, local tribesmen said on condition of anonymity out of fear for their safety.

The Pakistani intelligence officials said the militiamen and army soldiers fought the militants for hours but eventually repelled the attack.

Pakistani Taliban spokesman Ahsanullah Ahsan claimed responsibility for the attack on the outpost in a telephone call to The Associated Press.

It was unclear whether Pakistani and coalition officials coordinated the strike or whether Nato fired on the militants after noticing activity on the border.

However, Crighton said there was no coordination between Pakistani and coalition military leaders on the airstrike. ”This was an independent operation and not associated with any others,” he said.

Pakistan has criticized Afghan and US-led coalition forces for not doing enough to stop cross-border attacks by Taliban militants against targets inside Pakistan.

The US and Afghanistan have long criticized Pakistan for its failure to prevent militants from carrying out attacks in the opposite direction.

TTP Commander arrested in Nowshera

In a related story authorities in Pakistan’s security forces conducted an operation in Nopwshera district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwah and claimed to have arrested a Taliban commander identified as Wajihuddin Mehsud.

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

For the past week or so they have conducted a few strikes against TTP in Eastern Afghanistan. Not sure about the reason for change of heart. There is another news not confirmed yet that Badruddin Haqqani (son of Jalalhuddin Haqqani) has been killed in a drone strike in NWA yesterday.

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

Another nail in the coffin to the ridiculous conspiracy theory that USA and India are backing the TTP.

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

killing pawns when conspiracies are exposed is not something new in US history :chai:

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

^ We all know about this fitna of Dajjal but we never accpet how we helping this dajjal to get more stronger.

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

Ever notice how all the conspiracy theories out there only just happen to compliment our own world view? So certain segments of Pakistan are all on board if they were told that ISRAEL, INDIA, and the US are trying to destroy Islam, take our nuclear toys, control our population through clandestine sterilization campaigns, destroy our food supply by creating mansoon clouds (I heard this one as well), but tell them that their might be a global jihadi campaign to spread Islam and enforce Sharia at all cost, and they will think your mad!

NATO conducting airstrikes in eastern Afghanistan?

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

Pakistan intelligence says they are 90% sure Badrudin was killed on tuesday, as for Haqani commander Jalaludin son, they are still investigating.

Did the Americans kill their ally by mistake?

Either way good riddance.

Another former IJT member killed by a drone. What travesty.

JI loses ex-student leader to drone strike | DAWN.COM

PESHAWAR, Aug 24: Jamaat-i-Islami has perhaps suffered the first drone casualty as its former student leader was killed in the US pilotless aircraft attack along with his wife near Miramshah town in North Waziristan Agency last Monday (August 20).
JI chief in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and former Senator Professor Mohammad Ibrahim Khan confirmed Raja Ahsan Aziz and his family’s association with the party but didn’t provide details.
“Raja Ahsan had been with mujahideen (holy worriers) in North Waziristan Agency since long. I don’t know more about his background,” he said.
Sources close to Raja said he had been associated with the Taliban since 2002.
Former JI chief Qazi Hussain Ahmad and other leaders of the party on Thursday rushed to Azad Kashmir and attended Raja’s funeral prayers in absentia.
According to locals, Raja was killed after a CIA-operated drone fired missiles on a house in Shna Khwara area on Miramshah-Datakhel Road on August 20. They said the house was constructed in a forest covered area adjacent to a seminary.
Raja, his wife and four people died and four suffered injures in the strike.
According to reports, Raja belonged to Mirpur in Azad Kashmir and had been living with family in North Waziristan since long.
By profession, he was engineer and completed his graduation from Mirpur Engineering University in 1996. He had served as nazim (head) of Islami Jamiat Talba, student wing of JI in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, between 1993 and 1995.
He later became member of the IJT shura (council). His father, Abdul Aziz, who had served in Pakistan Navy, was also elected president of JI, Mirpur district.
In the past, key Al Qaeda figures were arrested at the houses of the people, who were or remained active activists of JI or its affiliated bodies.
According to reports, Al Qaeda top leader Khalid Sheikh Mohammad was arrested at the house of former JI leader Farzana Qudoos in Rawalpindi, while two Al Qaeda suspects were taken into custody during a raid on the house of JI leader in Karachi.
Qazi Hussain insisted that Raja was not member of the party though his father, Abdul Aziz, and other family members were its very active workers.
“Raja remained in Islami Jamiat Talba long before, but presently he had no association with the party,” he said.
The former JI chief said his party considered all those killed by drones ‘martyrs’. He said it was the state’s responsibility to stop foreign aggression and provide protection to its people.
When asked what Raja was doing in North Waziristan Agency when he belonged to Azad Jammu and Kashmir, he replied: “I don’t want to go into this debate.”
However, a security analyst, who wished not to be named, said the JI-affiliated groups had sufficient presence in tribal areas, where they were playing a very active role.
He said the party disassociated itself from activists taking part in cross-border insurgency in order to avoid criticism or dispel the impression of its direct ties with such organisations.

taliban rejected reports that the son of Haqani network founder is killed, whereas Afghan intelligence says he has been killed in airstrike.

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

Damn if you do and damn if you don’t.

US Doesn’t Attack TTP - Conspiracy Reaction = US is supporting TTP
US attacks TTP - Conspiracy Reaction = US is killing its pawns

Pakistan has not benefited one iota from this conspiracy nonsense.

Turkey took on the PKK, Sri Lanka fought the LTTE, Jordan with Black September, Colombia with FARC, etc.

Countries who have a strong national sense don’t hide behind conspiracy theories to explain away their failures and their utter incompetence in dealing with tough situations. If Pakistanis want to believe this conspiracy nonsense, the only losers in the end will be the Pakistanis.

A prime example is 1971 when East Pakistan became Bangladesh. I am sure Pakistanis back then invented conspiracy theories to explain away the discontent among East Pakistanis instead of confronting the cold hard truth that sheer racism, discrimination and bigotry by West Pakistanis towards East Pakistanis led to East Pakistanis revolting and leaving Pakistan.

But its much more easier to blame others.

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

They should've killed them when they fled from Pakistan and entered into Afghanistan, why was it that difficult?

I know, there are 1000 excuses for not doing that.

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

They are being killed left right and center.

Just a few days ago, a drone took out several TTP commanders.

US resources are not infinite.

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

Yep, they only turned 'finite' and emptied eastern Afghanistan when Pakistan needed them.

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

PA is playing double game, and Pakistan has been nurturing this monster for ages... many in armed forces still support Taliban including large chunk for brainwashed population. Few days back Taliban spokesman came out and said they have inside info that army is about to launch operation in NW & many foreign "guests" are fleeing the agency with their families. Everything that is happening in Pakistan is not Ameriki sessiat & until Pakistanis accept that nothing will ever change.

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

Not really. From 2007 - 2010, the TTP were in Waziristan wreaking havoc across Pakistan. Why didn't Pakistan take any action then?

Its due to US drone activity that we have seen a remarkable drop in terrorist attacks by TTP. It actually reads like an economics graph like when Price goes up, Demand goes down. In this case, Drone strikes went up, and Terrorist attacks in Pakistan went down.

As for US resources, in 2010, US started its surge, and withdrew troops from less populated areas and moved them into more populated areas. US has 130,000 troops in Afghanistan and there is no way they can be in every single inch of Afghanistan.

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

During the time period you are mentioning Pakistan has carried out operations in Swat, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Dir, South Waziristan, limited operations in Kurram. What else can you expect from a country/army which is fighting in spite of a failed economy and a civil war situation in Balochistan and Karachi. If ISAF forces having much greater resources at their disposal cannot carry out operations against all taleban, how can they expect Pakistan to do the same?

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

Pakistan is playing double game, US is sincere to Afghanistan and region, it had no other intention other than to attack AlQaida and dismantle Taliban... anything else that I need to learn?

They need to protect more than Kabul atleast, and when they've been blaming Pakistan for supporting Taliban then does it not make sense that US monitor border esp for any militant infiltration? When militants go to Pakistan, "US can't be protecting every single inch of Afghanistan", when militants go to Afghanistan it is Pakistan's fault. Anything else that you would like to tell us?

Re: Nato airstrike kills Maulvi Dadullah among 13 in Afghanistan

Yes what I like to tell you is that US and Pakistan need to work together to end this Taliban menace. :)
