I think most of us have heard following Sahih ahadith regarding importance of brotherhood among Muslims.
Question is where does the nationalism and strong patriotism stand in the light of this hadith?
How much important it is for having a good level of emaan to possess this trait of feeling the pain of other Muslim brothers?
An-Nu’man ibn Basheer reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The parable of the believers in their affection, mercy, and compassion for each other is that of a body. When any limb aches, the whole body reacts with sleeplessness and fever.”

The concept of "ummah" as can be translated by mentioned hadith is strictly in collision with the concept of nationalism and Patriotism. I dont think there are any Geographical boundaries allowed (or suggested) in the light of defined ummah.

love for homeland is natural, and I think is ok as long as it does not exceed brotherhood.

Yes, but not sure organized and established practices for expressing love for homeland are ok. After all patriotism and love for homeland are mingled.
