If that were the case, then even Powell and Rumsfield would also refuse to testify. Its not a matter of secret information. Even White House is not taking the position.
Rightly or wrongly, the position by WH is that only those people who are confirmed by the Congress are subject to the commission. Other officials and staffers, including NSA are not required to answer to such commissions.

Well, thats a different topic. You had said that Rice did not testify cz she may not have answered questions on some classified information, and I am saying that doesn't make any sense, cz if thats the case no other administration representative should testify either.

On a more serious note, just looking at the woman repulses me. Her comments are classic rhetoric and very rarely does she tell the Truth. She has regularly lied on State TV. So for me, the less I see of her the better. My personal opinion.
The reason why the White House do not want Rice to testify is because she regularly contradicts herself within the same speech, and the Democrats on the panel will have a field day with Rice under Oath. Furthermore the general public will raelise the Truth.
The Administration cannot afford to take such a risk with elections looming around the corner. It's a Political move!

Whatever your personal opinions on Rice's looks and her integrity is all fine and dandy... the question was why has she refused to testify or that why WH refused to allow her to testify. So, whether she repulses you with her looks or her lies, is neither here nor there.
Your second paragraph was more to the point, though, its high on rhetoric and low on facts. Almost the same thing which you accused her of. :)
Although at the end of the day, it may just turn out that WH has no interest in seeing a good and informative report from this commission, cz they (the WH) thinks it knows best anyway. And the only reason they allowed Powel and Rumsfeld (and proly Prez and Veep) to testify is to humor the Congress.
