Inspired by a lovely thread on wildlife in Pakistan posted by another member. :slight_smile: How many of you have been to any of Pakistan’s 14 national parks? If so, tell us more.

National Parks of Pakistan

*In Pakistan a National Park is an area of outstanding scenic merit and natural beauty where the landscape, flora and fauna are protected and preserved in a natural state. Public access for recreation, education and research is provided for. Access roads and other facilities should be planned so they do not conflict with the main objectives of national parks. Hunting wild animals is prohibited, as is firing gun or otherwise interfering with animals and plants. Clearing land for cultivation, mining or allowing polluted water to flow in National Parks is also prohibited. Under the regulations, these acts may be allowed for scientific purposes or to improve the park. *

There are 14 National Parks in Pakistan. Following are the major National Parks of Pakistan:

• Hingol National Park
• Kirthar National Park
• Khunjerab National Park
• Chitral Gol National Park
• Lal Suhanra National Park
• Hazarganji-Chiltan National Park
• Margalla Hills National Park
• Ayubia National Park
• Deosai National Park
• Machiara National Park

A very informative thread, Mursi! I had no idea all these parks existed in Pakistan. The only two I had heard about were Margala Hills and Ayubia. Each one of them looks breathtakingly beautiful. :-)

I've been to:
Kirthar National Park
Chitral Gol National Park

Margalla Hills National Park
Ayubia National Park

This was in 1989-90, in three different trips.

Do these 'National Parks' have any tiurist facilities such as RV parking and hook ups, showers, bathrooms, maps for hiking trails, etc.? or are they just big chunks of land where due to terrain no cultivation or civilization is possible?

But wow these parks are impressive.Just lovely.Iv never even saw pictures of them until now.

wow mursalin thanx for sharing.. sad thing is i lived 30 mins from lal sunahra but never got to go there :(

i am goan try to vist all the national parks in north paksitan next time i go pakistan :p inshallah

Wow, now this is what would make a trip to Pakistan worthwhile – not the ‘food streets’ or the nagging rishteydar.

There should be some organized trips to these places.
