With Angelina Jolie now definitely off the project, Alfonso Cuaron’s 3D Cast Away-in-space movie Gravity](Gravity (2013) - Movie | Moviefone) has been looking for a new lead so that the whole thing doesn’t fall apart. Last week there was rumor that Rachel Weisz was being sought for the film’s primary role of a woman alone and stranded in a remote space station. Other names apparently being talked about have included Scarlett Johansson and Blake Lively. But *Risky Business *reports](http://riskybusiness.hollywoodreporter.com/2010/09/06/natalie_portman_gravity_alfonso_cuaron/) Warner Bros. and Cuaron have now officially offered the part to Natalie Portman](Natalie Portman | Moviefone).

Portman is very hot right now, garnering significant Oscar buzz for her performance in the current festival favorite Black Swan](Black Swan (2010) - Movie | Moviefone) (Eric Snider calls it the best of her career). And next summer she’ll show up in another big comic book movie, as the love interest of Thor](Thor (2011) - Movie | Moviefone). However, in spite of her ability to mix it up with everything from period drama to fanboy genre fare – and with an expected starring role in Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, a combination of these extremes – but a solo show like *Gravity *will be a challenge for anyone. Portman may have one Academy Award nod under her belt, but we can all agree she’s anything but consistent.Filed under: Music & Musicals, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Casting, Warner Brothers, RumorMonger, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt
