Nasty potential in-laws

Re: Nasty potential in-laws

There is a saying (as least in pakistani culture) "when you get married you are not only marrying the guy but his entire family".... so the guy being good was just a small aspect of that would-be marriage. You have to look at the entire family before making a decision.

You did the right thing by not going through with it.......her true colors showed before marriage...imagine what more she had to show after.

Re: Nasty potential in-laws

Kudos to you for getting out of it ASAP!

No one...and I mean no one...disrespects my family and lives to tell about it.

Wwow! Lucky you, you got out of it. And you did the right thing. The MILs bring out their real colors after the wedding, yours was already showing you what the real deal would be like!

And these guys, well don't feel bad for him, b/c half of them wont speak up for you in front of their monopolizing mothers, which is a killer in your relationship.
My parents in law always stress on the fact that "ghar ki baat ghar mein rehni chahye"... aka, I don't tell my mom abt stories that happen at home with my mil, bil blahblah. Like hello... who're you to say that?? My sil herself can't stop badmouthing her own sil..

And yeah, it's all the same with the mils if they have daughters or not. They're mostly out there to make their dil's life hell.. we all should just accept that!

Awww Chilli Milli and djmi I can't believe other people are also going through/have been through the same drama...I never realised there are so many troublesome people (MILs) in the world. May Allah give both of you patience and peace through this and happiness in the future.

As for me, another rediculous thing the guy's mum was saying is that I will live in Pakistan after getting married whilst, her son will be in the US finishing his residency. What the??? Who gets married then lives in a different country to their husband for no reason?
I'm a doctor currently doing my internship in Australia and the guy is currently doing interviews for a residency program in the US. His mum is also a doctor and has her own hospital in Pakistan...so I'm guessing the only explanation behind her obsession with me living in Pakistan, was so that I would work in her hospital like a slave and not make her son 'kharab' while he would finish his residency and then come back to work in her hospital too...
