Nasser Hussain’s decision not to shake hands with Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe’s president, could land him behind bars, according to the Press Trust of India news agency. A two-year-old Zimbabwean law deems it a criminal offence for anyone in the country to show disrespect for the president. The law has already been used to jail people for minor misdemeanours such as failing to cheer Mugabe’s motorcade, the report said, quoting locals who warn that Hussain could be prosecuted if he refuses to shake hands with Mugabe during the World Cup.
