I am really impressed by his commentry. His knowledge of game is impressive. Pointers that he gives about field placing is always spot on. I always tought why English appointed such a mediocre brit-wana be guy as their captain. Now I know why?
He definitly beats all the other commentators during India vs England. Not that he has to beat any good one . Bue he is definitely better than Deano, Botham ,Willis ,Srinath,Arun and stupid Laxman.

I think Dean Jones is a little entertaining because he seems to make the game a little exiting. But look what Naser Hussain is up against? lol ... the rest of them are either obsessed with "reverse swing" or have mastered the art of "run on sentences."
I like his (Hussain's) critical approach, when he gives his insight as to what he "would have done."

The thing with almost all Desi commentators (Shastri and Manjrekar included) is that they lack a sense of humour. You will hardly find a Desi Commentator joking or seeing the lighter side of things. Bhogle was good in this regard (and Sidhu has too much "sense of humour")
Also, I find Sivaramakrishnan's accent and sentence construction very annoying :

Arul Lal's angrezi is better and he is more articulate but he does not have the right voice pitch and/or modulation for the job.

Deano is entertaining and That is it. I have never seen him giving any interesrting technical explanation or input. He is always cracking jokes ,which come easier to him since he is Aussie.
But Naser discusses lots of fileding issue. Like For which player where to place fielder and why...

If I remember correctly, didn't Nasser (alongwith Manjrekar on an edition of Straight Drive) stand up from his usual seating chair, went halfway across the room and stood right besides a fielding board (a literal representation, like a game board - Monopoly, for example) where he showed, with the help of little stick men (which were magnetized on the board), where all fielders should be placed according to his point of view (forgot which match and/or which side he was refering to)? Anyone remember that episode (it was a while ago)?
I thought that was real neat.

I do have sort of etched images in my brain of Nasser, who especially walked halfway across the room and explained thoroughly the fielding placements from his point of view to the viewers, and how the fielders should be placed for that particular innings (and in which positions). I somehow remember Hussain standing right besides Manjrekar.
