Are we going by the definition that huma provided in the first post? In that case, well yeah, but even then, if you think others are poo, then you don’t give them or the people around you any chance to come take your place, or any future place you want to achieve. However if you’re going by the definition of narcissist which just someone who thinks he’s the best ever in the entire world, then i dunno do they look down upon others? and even then, if they project to others that they’re the best ever, then the people around them wouldn’t really give 2 poos about other people. (oh god my post sounds a bit drunk).

Well there are narcissists who look down upon others and there are some who don’t. It depends on which of the 9 traits they display in their personality.

Yes, with one requirement. That is if his narcissism does not put down others using wrong methods.
Instead this narcissistic attitude somehow should cause this person to act according the self image he has.
In this way the self loving behavior actually helps person achieves the goals he has in his mind.
The results become reality and this behavior does not become a delusional state.
Proud parents work hard to get their child good education.
Shareef families make it clear to their family members to live up to the family image and..
…a narcissistic person CAN work hard to make his beliefs about himself a reality!

I would have to say it does but to an extent.
If you are narcissistic you need to be able to back it up. If you are narcissistic for a particular reason, its good. You need to believe you’re the best there ever was out there at something before you can reassure someone else of it. And you better be able to prove it.
Being overly narcissistic for stupid reasons is however a character flaw.

I don’t buy that ceos with healthy r&d budget are narcissistic. In fact those who cut r&d for short term profits who buy back pricey shares, manage quarter to quarter earnings, lay off bottom 10%. Take On too much debt . They are narcissists.

Ok wait, are we discussion narcissim as a personality trait, or are we talking about Narcissistic Personality Disorder which has to be properly diagnosed by someone well versed in DSM/ICD? Because then the discussion goes different ways.
