Munchkin seems to nap more and more during the day now, my routine has completely gone out the window. I try to keep her entertained and awake but she starts crying and wants to sleep!
During the night she’ll sleep at 8 and then wake up around 11 so I bring her to bed as I don’t want to disturb hubby and then she will sleep and wake up at 3am and wants to play! she stays awake for about an hour and then drifts off to sleep. During the night I constantly have to put her dummy in her mouth. Last night I massaged her, bathed her but had fed her before as she drifts off after a bath and still same thing.
What can I do?
Is it normal for a nine month old to nap a lot, she wakes at 8am has her milk or porridge and sleeps at 9 till ten then again from 12 to 3 and then again at 6 or 7!! Should she be napping just before bed time?
Ideally she should not be napping at 6 pm.This is what is keeping her awake at night.
I recall my daughter taking two naps during the day when she was that age and she never napped after 5-6 pm.It is usually hard to keep them awake against their will especially when they just want to sleep.
You could try to improve her sleeping habits during the day and bring it down to 2 naps/day.It wont happen in a day or tow and suddenly so you might wanna work in 15 mins increments.Making her sleep at 9:15 am rather than 9 am and then waking her up at 10:15 am rather than 10 am,like this.Afternoon nap moving from 12-3 pm, to maybe later hours so she is not sleepy again at 6 pm.Also engage her in physical activity which tires her out and she would hopefully be sleeping well through the night
What chips said. If she is going to take a nap late in the evening, she won’t be sleepy when its bedtime. My son would wake up at 6:30-7.. have bkfast, milk, and then nap at 10ish.. wake up at 11:30-12. Play, eat and another nap around 3. Wake up in an hour and stay up till bed time at 8. I would just play with him anytime I saw him trying to go to bed in the evening. Just keep them busy. Keep doing it for few weeks until it becomes a routine.
my baby had this issue also I used to wake her up at 8 in the morning by11 to 11:30 she used to take her first nap, I made sure she is not sleepingfor more than 2 hours thn by 1 she was n again at 4 ready to take second nap up at 6 n at 11 by night again sleep, it was difficult I did for three days fourth day she got used to it. I used to wash her face to make her up n wherever I am like working in kitchen I used to call her name after every 2 mins to check she is up
Try to eliminate the 6pm nap. That’s too late for a nap IMO. My daughter used to nap a lot too. 2-3 naps a day when she was around 9 months old until she turned a year and I cut down her naps to one 2 hour nap.
i couldnt keep him awake in evening or around 7,8 pm…
i tried alot to eliminate his evening nap but failed it was impossible!!!..he couldnt wait and would go to sleep while sitting lol
that time was exhausting but it stayed for 2-3months…when he turned 10months he started to sleep through the night…
dont get upset if nothing is working…baby will get used to good sleeping routine soon inshaAllah!
^ akmoti I managed to keep her up till 11am today! I let her sleep till 1 and then 230, I had to wake her at 3 tho as I had to take her to the docs but ima persevere
