Re: Naming a child
Sometimes the child is not named after an infamous person…but because the parents liked the name and the meaning of it. It could even be that the child was given a name…before a person with the same name even became a prominent figure or achieved their infamous status in the world.
I do believe that parents have a responsibility to consider various factors when naming their child (such as pronunciation, meaning, the predominant culture that they’re living in…for example the name Phuc might sound ordinary in Vietnam but can be problematic in a foreign country, and the consequences the name would have on the child and even others.)
