Names of Allah...?

***When adopting a particular name as Wazeefah (daily recital) add (Yaa) before the name and remove the (Al). For example, (Ar-Rahmaan) must be recited as (Yaa-Rahmaanu) and NOT as (Yaa-Ar-Rahmaanu).

^ I have heard many people say that the names of Allah should be recited like how it is told above if doing a wazifa…but my question is why? Does it change the meaning or does it not have any effects if Ar Rahmaan is not recited as Ya-Rahmaanu? and can it be recited as Ya- Rahmaan? I have been curious to know this for a long time can someone please tell because I have been reciting the names of Allah as Ya-Rahmaan…and not putting the U in the end…***

Re: Names of Allah...?

Peace JerryM,

Psyah explained it very well and I quote as it is:

"Since the Name Allah is a combined word which contains the word 'Al' = The = Definite Article - This makes whatever follow it "definite" ... Something "definite" is something "Known" ... A wisdom here is that "Allah is Known" or defined for us to know ... There can be none else with the name that has been defined - Denoting Unique Identity ...

When we say "an apple" we mean to say one of many ... When we say "The apple" we are talking about a specific apple ... Likewise "Allah" is inherent to specificity ... the Name is always Definite." Un-quote.

I think when we use "Ya" than in that case we are requesting to. For example when we say "Ya Allah / Ya Rahman" than first of all the tone and our inner feeling changes and our tone beome more lenience and we feel more humbleness in ourself. This is due to reason that we are requesting with humbleness to one sustain deity and in situation of 100% believe in that if HE didn't accepted our plea than i will be in deeply loss. In other words if my plea is rejected than i'm a dead person.

I think that is why we "Ya" at very first.
