Do they really effect the personality? so far people keep telling me that they do…I dunno .. am not really convinced…i’ve seen so many people with the nice and simple names and they don’t even reflect a fraction of what their names suggest…anyway.. to cut the long speech short.. can any one come up with nice, short and meaningful boy names with pronounciation easy enuff so the gora won’t make it sound weird… i don’t want any european sounding names .. just nice arabic/muslim names for boys.. mucho gracias :lb:

names do have an effect on personality but it’s not really a criteria of a personality.. I know many good name people being the worst on this face of earth…

however, I found atleast one tradition of the Prophet:saw2: where he asked a name to be changed for a person…

let’s see what others say about the suggestions.. I will come back later when I can think of some good names beside the one I have :stuck_out_tongue:

NAME is the first gift which parents gives to their child

Yeah it affect sometimes, if your name is Muhammad, Ali, Usama Bin No-Deen, etc then you must be on a watch list while entering shumaali amreeka, ...

Well on a serious note, I must admit many times name does affect the personality ... if your name has a good meaning then you always will try to prove your name to be correct for you! in a result it will help in developing a good personality! ...

Talking of 'muslim names' being on 'watchlists', it is not just shumaali amreeka but one arab country which shares border with saudia which has many common muslim names on a 'watchlist' and if you urgently need to transfer money in or out of this country through western union, be aware that you will not receive it before 48 hours and they never give you a clear reason but keep on telling you either:

  1. We have not yet received the funds from the sender or...
  2. The funds have been held by the country (whereever it was sent from) and we will receive it as soon as they release it from there.

Whereas both of the above excuses are BULL crap.

This happens only in "mashreq-e-wusta"!!!

Thats the whole point.. i do believe in the names that have nice meanings.. but lets be real... how many asads u seen being a "lion" or brave enough that they reflect their names... or kashif being a discoverer or the someone who revealed.....i do believe there are exceptions but exceptions can be any where.....and m glad AQ brought up the point of changing names... are you sure its because of the meaning? or something to do with muslim being identified by their names?Khayr.... for people suggesting names... I do appreciate the names but i asked for names with meanings as well....thanks!

Ever try to read the meaning of 'La' in Arabic? it means NO, now read my reply again and try again to figure what La-deen is!

and beside all of it, which version of Islam and Jihad he belongs? and what about those who are getting killed in the name of so called Jihad? and how he is helping Islam by his actions? and how you define a Jihad which is against innocents and against his Muslims? is it just to kill innocent and show power?

Exactly :-)... we should not issue any Fatwas against any one! not even against Shia and Green pagri sunnis :-)
