Re: name of the city/ town in Pakistan, and its roots?

LANDI KOTAL (NWFP)

3518 feet above sea-level, the last railway stop
of Pakistan Railways, LANDI KOTAL is essentially

affiliated with FATA (Federal Agency for Tribal Areas).

A small Industrial hamlet which has factories to
make SILK (RESHMEE) Clocth, its chief business
is the sale of imported clothing, cigarettes, and other

important items including revolvers, pistols and other arms.

Political Agents under Khyber Agency have their
Head Offices here including a Fort.

LANDI KOTAL doesn't have a history...but its
more than 6000 persons population has
a school and college.

LANDI KOTAL is situated wee bit before
the border of Pakistan-Afghanistan..
which is North-East of LK.

Why the name LANDI KOTAL....
it is said that the first house at LK
was made by some family which carried
the surname as KOTAL.....hence there could

be a possibility that LANDI could be
the daughter or wife of Mr. Kotal....

but that still needs to be researched.

**I was at Landi Kotal in 1997.....for an hour
and so scary was it...that every person around me looked *
*
like...you know who?
