Is this a new fad out there, a new n improved breed of wannabe(s) ?? recently I have been coming across people who have this highly annoying habit of linking and relating themselves to every tom dick and harry they think is ‘cool’ or ‘elite’ enough…be they in pakistan or amreeka or timbuktu. i mean really what are the odds that you are related to the entire fashion/showbiz/political cirlces in pakistan?
few of them in our community, everyone of course knows its their vain attempt to impress and initiate a ‘following’ and tolerate it but how do you politely let such people know they are making a fool of themselves? i used to find it amusing, now i get highly irritated because one cannot have a decent conversation in their company, they will start naming names that have absolutely NO relevance to the ongoing conversation or if someone happens to mention a certain someone, they insist on knowing them till the conversation has become totally one-sided and downright awkward! please help, how does one deal with such people in a polite but firm way in order to just shut them up! and no, socially there is no way to avoid them
There is this misconception floating around that you have to be polite to everyone. BS, be only polite to people who deserve to be treated in such a manner.

ya i know, wish i had the guts. we desis are way too politically correct (at least to the face!)
Who is stopping you to turn the tables on them. Just start dropping the big names you know. They will get the message . Try it , it works.
so if you can't beat them, join them? i have a feeling it will be taken up as a challenge, not as a put down
