Name change - due to insecurity!!

Re: Name change - due to insecurity!!

No. It is still on, but Congress is debating whether to update the list or not. They still have name of the “9/11 hijackers” in the list, also dead terrorists and overseas government officials.

Re: Name change - due to insecurity!!

what is the percentage in Pakistan or Saudi Arabia etc that have such feelings for americans?

someone may point to the small percentage of american muslims favoring suicide bombings (idiots)

as far as acceptance goes, you will never have 100% acceptance of any group anywhere. There are many in US who dont like blacks, jews, catholics, mormons etc etc.

so look at it as a majority of americans dont harbor such feelings, glass is more than half full :)

The good thing is that most of the people who are unaccepting are people I dont have to deal with on a daily basis.

Re: Name change - due to insecurity!!

My name is also on the watch list. I cannot self check in through touch screen monitors.

Go to Dept. of Homeland Security website. There, you can fill out a form and request that your name should be taken out of the list. Go to this link

Re: Name change - due to insecurity!!

oh poo…airports are boring and we usually get there about an hour before our flight anyways so it’s an exciting way to kill time. And then people offer to give you their blankets and meals during the flight while watching you from the corner of their eye. :phati:

Re: Name change - due to insecurity!!

if another terrorist attack like 9/11 occurs by people using air planes, i think all muslims will be flying on seperate planes with military escorts

so i don't mind the additional checking.

infact if pakistan was attacked the way usa was 9/11 by balochi terrorists.

all balochis would probably be banned from flying in pakistan

Re: Name change - due to insecurity!!

It seems a well organized rumor which is engineered to spread discomforts among other people to show how bad Muslims are.

so mr or mrs malhot, try again and if you are so concern and finding this so ugly for you then leave gathering of these type of people, and try remain in your own circle and please leave the worrying part to others. I hope you get the message. :)

Re: Name change - due to insecurity!!

Re: Name change - due to insecurity!!

True.. I think Americans and brits dislike Indians more than they do Pakistan- maybe we are so different than them. BTW, Not everyone is accepting and welcoming as Punjabis. If we look at Pakistan, Punjabis are least racist of all people. Wish the world was full of Chaudharies- we are smart, educated and decent ppl :)

Re: Name change - due to insecurity!!

Re: Name change - due to insecurity!!

Hindu and Sikhs have been changing their names for many decades in the west, usually out of shame for their origins and to fit into the west. That has never stopped discrimination against them, in fact they have often been lampooned for it.

Re: Name change - due to insecurity!!

“Reza” is not exclusively Persian, it is a Urdu/Punjabi/Persian derivation of the Arabic name “Ridhaa”.

As for Pahlavi, maybe he is related to the Pahlavi dynasty..

Maybe he is the exiled Shah’s son who is also called Reza Pahlavi.
