Is Ayaan appropiate as a good muslim name for a boy?

It says online that its of Arabic origin meaning ‘Gift of God’…I really like the meaning because every child really is a gift from God.

I read online that it is used for girls in somalian culture but lots of people use it for boys too, as an arabic name it comes up under boys names online.

i think ayaan is the the most famous name ever. every family has one baby whose name is ayaan. nice name though.

It's a nice name....nice meaning....but it's become so common now. I know three people (a friend and two cousins) who named their son that.

Add an "a" at the end....Ayaana.....and it'll become a girl's name.

Ayaan, Rayan, Shayan, Aydan, etc. These names are nice but becoming very common.

We wanted to name our son ayaaan, but that was 4 years ago, and it was not common at that time, now as everyone else is saying here it is a very common name. We didn't name our son ayaan because one of my husband's aunt said the name has good meaning but should not be kept for XYZ reason, so we didn't name him ayaan I am glad we didn't :)

My son's name is Adeen, it is also spelled as aydin, it means bright, brilliant, in turkish and old persian, it also means bright moon light, in irish it means lil fire :) most desi's made fun of when we named our name that but we loveeeddddd it, and my son is like a lil fire but as cool/content as moonlight too :)

I think Ayaan is a lovely name and has great meaning to it......if you like it then go for it.....all this about it being too common doesnt really matter. For some people they know loads of family or friends with that name and there are others who dont know anyone with that name. (like me :) surely im not the only one who doesn't know anyone with that name)

I really like the name Hayyan for a boy. Anyone know any Hayyans????? :D

have done some research online on the name and decided against it for the reason that its meaning is not what I thought.

I've come across that it is mentioned twice in the quran,

*Quoted from Quran, according to Quran Surah # 79 Ayat 42 "They ask you about the hour:When will it come?",

Quoted from Quran; Surah 75 Ayat 6; "He questions:When will this day of Resurrection be?"*

The only place its quoted as God's gift is online on naming websites, personally I'm not sure that everything online is correct.

According to the above Surahs the name Ayaan comes across as meaning "when". Would have kept this name if it meant Gift from God as originally thought.
