Namaz.

Ok i was going through google and youtube to find out if i was saying namaz the right way. And i am confused now because i just read on a site few things which i didnt know were necessary like your hands must be covered while you are praying :bummer:. So i want to figure out the right way of saying namaz so that there is no mistake there.

Can anyone here suggest me a website for this, i have been through some but they are not that helpful as some lack images/videos and some just focus on 1 thing.

Re: Namaz.

Peace ZareenKhan,

See this thread with images http://www.paklinks.com/gs/religion-…az-prayer.html

Re: Namaz.

Shukriya! Wl chk them out.

Re: Namaz.

well first know what madhab you are.

then read about the fiqh of salah for that madhab.

if you have any questions, ask an Imam or Scholar that you respect.

Shaykh Google just leaves one more confused - especially if one doesnt know much to begin with.

Re: Namaz.

^ thnx, wat's madhab? so far the link lethal posted is helping!

Re: Namaz.

school of thought. there are 4. Hanafi, Shafi, Maliki and Hanbali.

this is the basis. You cannot shift from madhab to another based on what you like from each. Its best to find out that you like and stick to it.

Re: Namaz.

if you ever pray at the masjid and you see other women next to you raise their hands in takbeer before they go to for sujood, its because they are of a different madhab.

the same with when you sit for tashahud, and see some women raise their index finger up and down throughout the whole tashahud, instead of raising it once. Again, they must be a different madhab.

Re: Namaz.

:jazak: Afshi

Re: Namaz.

ameen.

Re: Namaz.

on basis does one decide …which one to like?? :konfused:

Re: Namaz.

well some madhabs are said to be "easier" than others.

also check with your imam at your local masjid and ask him what madhab they follow.

or your family might know. Most desis are of Hanafi Madhab.

that's why one shoudl do their reseach on all of them and choose, or if they respect a certain scholar/shaykh and then follow him.

Re: Namaz.

If she is sunni and she lives in Pakistan, she should follow Hanafi (must already be that way). If you try to follow Hanbali or Shafa'i in Pakistan, where will you find the alim from to guide you in small small things.

Re: Namaz.

:konfused: TLK bhai can you please define sunni???

Re: Namaz.

As i always thought that the term sunni is used for all four school of thoughts i.e. Hanafi, Shafi, Maliki and Hanbali

Re: Namaz.

so you saying that we can pick the easier madhab as a whole??

but we can't pic easier things from different madhabs??

Re: Namaz.

yes.

but i wrote "easy" in quotes....all around Islam is an easy religion to follow. Its the people that find things difficult about it.

Re: Namaz.

:bummer:Surely reading namaz shouldnt be so complicated, with hands this way, kneeling that way etc etc. If someone reads in a different way from yourself, does this mean then that their namaz won’t be accepted by Allah? I find this hard to believe.

Re: Namaz.

who said anything about the salah not being accepted by Allah SWT?

Re: Namaz.

as salaam alaikum

it is recomended that you follow what is followed in your locality

for pakistanis this will almost always be hanafi

the fiqhs save you from trawling thausands of hadith looking for what to do in any given situation, for example prayers. there is no fundamental difference between them.

sister zareen if you are happy with your current basic prayer, just keep praying this way but learn tajweed for it?

Re: Namaz.

It was actually a question Afshi (not to any one person i should add), not an accusation.
