Namaz rakats

Salaam

So a lot of people argue about this…but I just want a simple answer…

In Namaz we have farz, Sunat and nafls…

I work and at times just want to quickly read my namaz coz I have to get dinner ready in time…so I read just the farz…is this wrong? From my understanding..farz is something we HAVE to read and sunat is something we follow in our Prophets (PBUH) footsteps…

Do we HAVE to read the sunat and nafl…do you get gunah if you dont?

Thanks

Re: Namaz rakats

**nafil is JUST nafil...u get sawaab if you do and no sawab if you do NOT...it's NOT mandatory. it's upto you to do or NOT to do.

sunnat are of 2 types...sunnat-e-mo'akkidah and sunnat-e-Ghair mo'akkidah [moa'kkidah = important]..the following sunnat are sunnat e mu'akkida. u can ONLY omit while traveling, if u r sick, or u have something very important to do which can NOT be delayed like catching a dlight...preparing dinner is deffo NOT a valid reason to skip sunnat namaazeN.

you are supposed to do the following minimums:

fajr 4 [2 farz + 2 sunnat]
zohr 10 [4 sunnat + 4 farz + 2 sunnat]
asr 4 [4 farz]
maGhrib 5 [3 farz + 2 sunnat]
ishaa 9 [4 farz + 2 sunnat + 3 witr {witr is wajib and is almost as important as farz]**

Good Answer!

This basically covers it and pertains to the Hanafi Madhab. Which one are you??

I realize we all get busy in our lives and tend to forget namaz, a lot of people say if you regularly pray and miss namaz think of it this way "you probably did something that day that Allah Miyan didnt like and he wanted to keep you away from him, then you think back to your day and try to realize where you were at fault." I think we all forget at times why we were created, not to enjoy our lives but to worship Allah (swt).
