I have started taking quran classes from the sister instituion of Alhuda in islamabad and one day during discussion i was told that the namaz raakats i offer dont coincide with any hadith.
Fajr:2 sunat, 2 farz
Zuhr: 2 sunat,4 Farz, 2 sunat
Asr:4 Farz
Magrib: 3 farz, 2 sunat
Isha: 4 farz, 2 sunat, witr(No of witr varies, it could be 1 ,3,5,7 )
I am kind of doubtful about it and i have tried searching for such Hadith online but no luckā¦so if someone here has sahih bukhari or any other source then kindly confirm me that which Namaz Rakats are the valid one?
**correct...they are right coz nafl is NOT mandatory...its upto you if you wanna it or not do it...u can say nawaafil at any time and as many as u want...its tradition in India Pak where they do nawafil as part of the namaaz coz they have been told to do so in their childhood. there are no nawaafil as part of the required namaaz.
if u r travelling, u do half of the farz salaat only. witr is wajib...almost close to fard.**
some sunna have more importance than others for instance 2 rakat sunna at fajr is like farz almost...u've to say it b4 u say the farz...thats why in masaajid, the imaam recites long suras in order for late comers to finish their 2 rakat sunna. if u r travelling or missing a prayer coz u r late for whatever reason u just say the farz and skip the sunna.
witr is also just like farz...during ramadhan, witr is done in jamaa'a [congregation] Arabs do like to delay until tahajjud. u can say right after the 'ishaa~ prayer or wait untill tahajjud, if u do that. its better to do it after ishaa~ coz u dun wanna take a chance and sleep over and miss the witr.
