well i don't quite agree with it in the end....but the initial Paragraphs are quite informative.

the Quran does tell us of FIVE prayers....
but the exact way to pray is only found in hadith....

but then u wont be a muslim if u believed in Quran alone and left the hadith....

"Our Lord! forgive us our sins and anything we may have done that transgressed our duty; establish our feet firmly and help us against those that resist faith." **Quran(3:147)

Why not list the quran ayats that says :
5 times
and where Prayers or Salah specifically means Namaz!

I could pray via 'playing a flute' and that would still be prayer!

I could do dzikr and that would still be prayers.

To each - his own! (HQ)

i think zikr and salat r mentioned separately in the Quran....
now u dont expect to find namaz in Quran as namaz is not an arabic word....
and no u cannot play flute and perform salat....
in separate places Quran does mention sajdah, qiyam and rukuu....
but to sum it all up u do need the Hadith....

to all his own....
yes....
Quran says that....
lakum deenukum wa leya deen....
but thats what Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) is told to say to the KUFAAR so if u count urself as a kafir, then yes, to u, ur own....
otherwise do what the Prophet(pbuh) has told u to do....

Some people believe that Quran tells all their is to be about Namaz

You might want to visit this link to get another prespective. http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/Forum13/HTML/004986.html

I disagree with that school of thought.

listen
agar Quran shareef mey kuch bataein nahin batayi gayi hein to it doesnt mean key Allah naauzubillah bhool gaey...bulkey un ka na batana hi mufeed tha

Quran shareef mey asad aur i think zuhar key naam sey bhi surah hei...namaz-e- jumaah ka bhi zikr hei...
v cannot be able to understand Quran without taking help from sunnah!
i hope aap samhj gaey hoangey

aaj bhi ho gar ibrahim ka iman paida
aag ker sakti hei undaaz-e-gulistan paida

oh sorry that was asar not asad

armugal,

I asked for the ayats to substantiate what is being said. Do you have the ayats or not?

I did not ask for your opinion because frankly I do not need it and nor do I care!

You agree in one line:
"Yes - to each his own;"

but then proceed to negate:
"but thats what Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) is told to say to the KUFAAR so if u count urself as a kafir, then yes, to u, ur own....
otherwise do what the Prophet(pbuh) has told u to do...."

Is this the prophet's way or sunnah as well?
To say one thing and then negate it!

To me praying via music as Rumi's 'flute-player' and dzikr is more preferable and resonates with my spirituality.

If you wish to pray the namaz then feel free to do so!

In the future - use words like KUFFAR with discretion because I find them repugnant!

abdulmalick plz go to the link i mentioned in my post above....You reallly need to read it.

Is that why you so readily agree that:
"women are the majority in hell"
and "Deficient in intelligence"
and 'good only for making babies'.

Use 'INTELLIGENCE' when interpreting the quran & other scriptures.

And - that is bigger & loftier than the quran!

Thanks sis! I have visited and to me - there is nothing there!

This does not mean that others will not find it beneficial!

Are u really dumb or are u just acting ( my fav line)...but seriously are u only contradicting the way a salat is prayed just for the sake of it or do u really have sumthing to back ur beliefs?

If it is the first case then can't help u....if it is the second...u'll hv to giv us proof for ur beliefs and stop asking others to give more surahs, ayats and ahadith because i know u will still not believe in them.

Am I dumb?

Why - Do I let myself be treated like :
"a tilth (field) for menfolks to till"[2:223]

If you follow the Sunnah ala the Book of hadiths for all your answers -then say so! No need to pussyfoot around with polymics!

The same book of hadiths that gives you the namaz gives you the Lowly status of women and lowly status of the muslim nation and will, forever, keep you in the DARK AGES with no choice but to keep thanking the Divine for his mercy. Actually, lack of it(His mercy) but the dumb schmucks wouldn't know the difference.

And - she thinks I require her help!

Is this the lowly state of women in islam:

** jannah lies under the feet of mothers **

or is this one:
** A baby daughter is a blessing from Allah wheras a baby son is a bounty of Allah**
if u believe that bounties of allah are better than his blessing.no comment.

or is this one
** a man who brings his daughters up, gives her good education and gets her married in a good home. his reward is with Allah**

I am a woman....and i have read the status of women in islam in gr8 depth...so don't give me crap about lowly status of women.

if because of chuvinistic attitude of some male members of our society women are being manhandled it is not the FAULT of ISLAM or ahadith!!

and anyways u still didn't give me any proof to back up ur innovative ideas.
anyways i think it is a useless effort to make u see the light because u don't want to see it and just want to give weird remarks.

I think Quraan does not specify a way of how to say your prayers and for that reason we have Hadith. Allah sent his Prophet(S. A. W) to us so he can teach us things that r not taught by Quran.

And your Question as if Quran says anything about five prayers then i think Surah-e-Qaaf in Quraan, i think, mentions Five prayers. But i will be sure to double check. So be patient

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/smile.gif

yes i just double checked and Ayaat 39 and 40 of Suraah-e-qaaf in Quraan talk about the five prayers.

So read the Surah and you won't be confused any more.
