Re: Naked Musharaaf?
SatTribune has an extremely poor quality of journalism that often prints nothing but lies.
This is an example. At the Aid Donor conference in Islamabad this month, Musharraf wore a suit.
In fact, Musharraf wears a suit on many public appearances in Pakistan.
Off the top of my head I was able to immediately pick out one lie in Mywish’s post. If I did some actual research, how many more lies and fabrications could I produce from it?
This article contains one clear lie. It should be disregarded in its entirety because who knows how many more lies it has?
Re: Naked Musharaaf?
Maddy would you be kind enough to shed some light on the rest of the list as well.
Re: Naked Musharaaf?
A few more points come to mind.
The writer claims Musharraf is in bed with right wing extremists, but has clearly overlooked the fact that right wing extremists have attempted to murder Musharraf twice and keep on trying to do so.
The "the most fascist ethnic organization" of which the writer speaks has members of all of Pakistan's ethnic groups in positions of great responsibility.
The writer accuses Musharraf of being a coward, but I'm sure the writer does not have any medals awarded to him for personally saving explosive shells from destruction in a fire while under attack from enemy artillery.
The writer repeatedly makes allegations without offering any proof that Musharraf drinks. Similarly, the writer declares that Musharraf apppoints "proclaimed murderers" to senior positions, but ignores the fact that in a civilised country you judge people only on the basis of they are convicted of doing. In a country like Pakistan, false accusations are extremely common against people with power, influence or wealth. Who can forget how after months of finger pointing and rumours that he was an Ahmadi, Shaukat Aziz was forced to publically point out the fact that he is in fact a Sunni Muslim.
The entire article is full of lies, twisted half-truths, and outright bias which all combine to produce something which is barely a shadow of the truth.
In the whole article, there are only 2 facts. Musharraf back tracked on his statement that he would quit after 5 years, and that Musharraf back tracked on his statement that women are claiming to be raped in order to get foreign asylum.
Everything else in the article is garbage.
Re: Naked Musharaaf?
MS,
"Right wing extremists" in Pakistan, as they are in any other country, are not one single entity. The groups that targeted Musharraf for assassination were used by the Pakistani state in Afghanistan and therefore were angry when they were cut off abruptly following Musharraf's post 9/11 U-turn. Other groups like the LeT never really tried to harm Musharraf because they still get state patronage behind the scenes.
The political extremists are a different case. Musharraf is clearly in bed with them. Without Musharraf's changing of rules regarding a Sanad being valid as a secular college degree and without ISI help, MMA would not have won so much the 2002 elections. Despite their bravado, MMA leaders have always caved in to Musharraf's demands and Musharraf has always caved into what MMA types feel are non-negotiable. The bogus honor killing laws, backtracking on blasphemy law reform, religion column in passport etc. are examples. MMA never faces state machinery obstructing them when they conduct rallies.
The fact is that the MMA types and Musharraf are on the same side. Both need the other. Musharraf uses the radicals to justify the need for him to stay in power - "Look the mullahs are coming" and the mullah party needs Musharraf to demonize publicly and then cut backroom deals with his men like they did in 2003.
Re: Naked Musharaaf?
1) Aftab Sherpao and Liaquat Jatoi ran away from the country when he took over. Obviously they did to avert from being caught. Both of them are his Ministers. Deny this.
2) Ishart-ul-Ibad had murder charges and he was not given clearance from ISI to become Governor yet he was sworn in as Governor. Deny this.
3) MMA rescued him on the seventeenth amendment and facilitated him to wear uniform and those who say he is not in league with him may please do something else than comment on political gimmicks he plays.
Enough for now.
Re: Naked Musharaaf?
The game between Musharraf (and the army) versus the mullahs is like "noora kushti." Lots of thigh and chest slapping for the benefit of the gullible but both belong to the same "akhara" at the end of the day.
Re: Naked Musharaaf?
musharaff drinking is his own biz IMO.
Re: Naked Musharaaf?

Re: Naked Musharaaf?
If some ‘nora kushti’ players try to assassinate you more than once, and you survive, then you can come here and lecture us on Musharaf/Army norakushti.
First of all, Indians should stop telling us who’s good/bad for us. We all know how much they love us. They better worry about governments in Asam, Gujrat and Kashmir.
mywish- You make good points. Here’s how I perceive it. What’s the choice that we have?
1- Baldy motorway (or someone from his clan).
2- Mister ten percent’s wife (or someone from her clan).
3- Theocracy (like the one we have in NWFP).
4- Musharraf
If these are the options, I have no doubt, I’d choose Musharraf. He may be termed democratic dictator. The baldy motorway was an autocratic democrat. If people elected by people leave the path of moderation, and try to become monarchs, then they’re no better than dictators. It’s wrong to assume that Musharraf has no support among people. But, no doubt, he has to go one day. And to ensure smooth working of democratic governments in the future, democracy within the parties must be encouraged, and civil institutions strengthened. It’s certainly not an ideal situation. But, it’s pragmatic to let him continue for the time being. At least, that’s how I see it.
Re: Naked Musharaaf?
i think musharraf wont leave until he's killed (assasinated)....
and then america will let someone else (frmo their clan) to rule over our country....
