To make your nails healthier, make sure you are getting enough iron and taking Biotin also helps. I take Biotin daily. I also keep a little vial of Olive Oil next to my bed and rub a drop into my nails overnight, I usually do this after I remove my polish. Also, if you file your nails, dont use a harsh flier, I use a glass one. And always file them in ONE direction so they dont split.
Another thing is, much to contrary belief, your nails do not need to "breathe" so keeping polish on them helps stay in shape and not get prone to easy breaking, and remember to always use a base coat.

Definately get a glass file! They last forever and you can clean them by washing them! I love mine!
