Well, paying tax is not optional unless you live on your own island. And reason you pay taxes is because teachers, police, doctors, fire fighters, soldiers, etc. have to be paid. Streets have to be paved & more importantly its keeps govt and governmental institutions going w/o which you cannot have a functioning nation.
