^so how does it help you speed up the labor?

my understanding was it just shows the stage of the labor itself and thats pretty much it! no?

I don't know about showing the stage of labor. Because although it opens up slowly you can't really tell much until unless its fully opened.

I don't know how it helps speed up your labor. What I do know is it does & also makes the delivery a wee bit easier. I was induced & was although having contractions for the past 20 hours I wasn't dilating. They even broke my water and I still won't dilate. I had the "phool" with me all night long but since it was night time I waited to put it in the water. Wanted my mom to sleep & hubby to take some rest as well so didn't put the "phool" in water (at that time I wasn't even sure that it might help) but after my mom came in the next day at mid morning & hubby got some other important things done, they both had lunch and he put the flower in the water & everything took a wild turn. Call me superstitious but I know it works.

I had the worst possible pregnancy a person can think of but my delivery MashaAllah MashaAllah MashaAllah was so smooth that its the only reason I am going to think of having another baby some day InshaAllah. I think it was the "Maryam ka Phool" that did it for me.

Very interesting.

Anyone else with similar experiences? Is this flower available in the US? What is it called?

I don't think its available in US. A lot of people living in Saudi haven't even heard of it. My sister in law lives there & she didn't know where to find it. Then she asked around & some people set up stalls somewhere & sell it. That's where she bought it from. She also found out that Arab women over their soak the flower in water & drink it to induce labor or something. She was surprised that I knew about it & wanted to soak it in water while having the baby.

thanks for the info and picture i live all my life in KSA my parents every one but i my self hearing for the first time here hmmm...
