Great Idea Munza,
Could i post some marsiyah here too? I got lots of them.

Can we please stick with naats for now? Perhaps we can see how this goes and then we'll start with other things.
Thanks.
Watcher,
If you have a naat to post, please do so. Otherwise please refrain from cluttering this thread.
Thanks.
Your wish is command to us Mr admin.
I can give you site that has English na^t both Sound and text.
** O are you going to the city of
Madinah? **
O are you going to the city of
Madinah? Are you going to visit my
beloved. O are you going to the city of
Madinah? To be with Taha the best of
all the Prophets. And when you go to
the city of Madinah, send my salam to
our hearts' delight, send my salam to
the best of all creation, to him whose
sight we yearn for every night.
And when you stand before him at his
grave, O won't you ask for us his inter-
cession. And when you stand before
him at his grave, please don't forget us
in your supplication.
For he's the one the weeping camel
spoke to, and he's the one the moaning
trunk yearned for. O he's the one the
trees and rocks greeted with, assalamu
^alayka, ya Rasullallah. So won't you
say when you face him at his grave
assala mu ^alayka, ya Rasullallah.
Assalamu ^alayka ya Nabbiyyallah.
Assalamu ^alayka ya Habiballah.
O won't you pray for us in al-Madinah.
Pray that Allah grants us his generosi-
ties, pray by the virtue and the glory of
our prophet Nabiyy Muhammad, the
Prophet of mercy.
Muzna ji —great idea! Here are a few i’ve posted b4 in the poetry section. All are by the naat-khwaan * par excellence * of the Urdu language Ala Hazrat Mawlana Ahmed Raza Khan Barelvi QAdri alayhi rahmat.

Kis ke jalway ki jhalak hai, yeh ujaala kya hai // Har taraf ka hairatzada takta kya hai
Hum hain unkay, woh hain Tere, to huwe hum Tere // Is se baDh kar teri simt aur waseela kya hai!
Zaahid unka mein gunahgaar woh mere Shaafa’ // Itni nisbat mujhe kya kam hai, tu samajha kya hai!
Bay basee ho mujhe jab pursish-e-amaal ke waqt//dosto kya kahoon us waqt tammana kya hai
Kaash faryaad meri sunkay ye farmaayein Huzoor//‘Haan koi dekho ye kya shor hai, ghoghaa kya hai’
‘Kaun aafatzada hai hai, kis pe balaa TooTi hai?// Kis museebat mein giraftaar hai, sadma kya hai?’
‘Kis se kehta hai ke “lillah! khabr lejiyay meri!”// kyon hai betaab, yeh baychainee ka rona kya hai?’
‘Iss ki baychainee se hai khaatir-e-aqdas pe milaal// bay kasee kaisee hai, poocho koi guzra kya hai?’
Yoon malaik karein ma’rooz ke ‘ik mujrim hai// iss se pursish hai, “bataa tu ne kya kya kiya hai?”’
'Saamna qahr ka hai, daftar ‘amaal ke hain pesh//Dar raha hai ke Khuda hukm sunaata kya hai’
‘Aap se karta hai faryaad ke “Yaa Shah-e-Rusul// Banda baykas hai, Shahaa rahm mein waqfa kya hai?”’
Ab koi dam mein giraftaar-e-balaa hota hoon//aap aajaien to kya khawf hai, khaTka kya hai
Sunke ye arz meri Bahr-e-Karam josh mein aaye// yoon malaik ko ho irshaad “Thernaa kya hai?”
“Kis ko tum mawrud-e-aafaat kiya chaahite ho?// hum bhi to zara aakar dekhien, tamaasha kya hai!”
Inki aawaaz pe kar UThoon mein baysaakhta shor//aur taDap kar yeh kahoon ‘ab mujhe parwaa kya!’
‘lau, woh aaya mera haami, mera gham khwaar-i-umam//aagayee jaan, tan-e-bay jaan mein, yeh aana kya hai!’
phir mujhe daaman-e-aqdas mein chhupaalein Sarwar// Aur farmaayein “haTo, is pe taqaaza kya hai?”
ChoD kar mujhko farishtay kehein ‘mahkoom hain hum//hukm-e-waala ki na ta’ameel ho, zuhra kya hai?!’
Yeh samaan dekh kay mahshar mein uThay shor ke ‘wah!//apnay banday ko museebat say bachaaya kya hai!’
Ay Raza jaan-e-anaadil tere naghmon pe nisaar//bulbul-e-baagh-e-Madina tera kehna kya hai!

-Creator of the Earth and Sky
Allah Allah Allah Ya Allahu Allah
Creator of the earth and sky, we ask for
a rank that’s high.
We obey in word and deed,
the Prophet’s teaching we must heed .
Allah Allah Allah This world is a trail
for us, and we well now that we must
obey the orders from our lord to avoid
all sin and seek reward
Allah Allah Allah Our hearts quake
with fear of You, and to Islam we must be
true, in every thing we think and do
Allah Allah Allah To people we have
brought our call, men and women one
and all, La ilaha illallah,
No one is God except Allah.

It would have been good if you guys (admin & friends)could devise a way by which people could embed small sound samples of these naats along with the text(may be just the first verse). That way we would know what the naat ‘sounds’ like. ie its Tarz. But still a good topic never the less. Here’s my contribution..
Zikarey Rasooley Paak ney Aisa Badal Diyaa
Saara Meyrey wojood ka naqsha badal diyaa
Meyrey gunahoon ney jisey meylaa tha kar diya
unkey karam ney dil ka wo sheesha badal diyaa… Zikarey rasooley paak ney aisa badal diyaa…
Shaaney kareemy dekhiye khairul anaam ki..
mudad sey tha jo khaly who kasah badal diyaa… Zikarey rasooley paak ney aisa badal diyaa…
…
It sounds very nice.. If I could get voice chat to work on my home pc, I’d be willing to sing this naat for you guys (Insha- Allah.. one day !)
Death is only the Beginning.
sounds good!
Does anyone have any info on the type of music that Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) used to listen to? Were they like naats?

CoolDude, Prophet Muhammad does not listen to music. The Prophet said that Music is haram in a hadith: "Three that Allah forbaade: ... (and he mentioned the last one: sounds; Music when there's happiness)
The reason I don't have a reference is because Ahadith like that are too known. We can put the references if needed.
But Note: Music is forbidden. However the Tambarine, Drums and Bongoz are not haram, they are permissible, that's why Muslim groups use tambarines and drums only (And the sounds that are similar-Scholars know how to identify them).
So, Duff or tambarine and drums are permissible as Prophet Muhammad once told lady ^Ishar radiallahu ^anha about another tribe: "and use the tambarine for them, for these people like entertainment" e.i. Islamic entertainment. Also, the Prophet when he imigrated to Al-Madina, people there wlecomed him with a popular chant: Tala^a-lbadru ^alayna.. I'm sure you all know it.
So, from that we know that Madih, Na^t is permissible even using Tambarine and drums, and that music is not permissible. Allah knows best.

so then it is permissable to say that the prophet did listen to HAMDS with teh Duff/tambarines/chants...?
It's unlawful to use sounds with Qur'an! However I said that the Prophet listened to Naat. Also he told ^Aishah to use duff for the other tribe mentioned. Allah knows best.
