Here’s the way I make naan:
Warm up quarter cup milk ( make sure its not heated fully ) … add in half tsp sugar and 3/4 tsp yeast … let it sit for 10 minutes until it foams up slightly …
Then take three - four cup self raising flour … add in a pinch of salt, 4-5 tblsp oil … a tbsp yogurt … and the yeast mixture you prepared… knead it all .. use water or milk to knead it … you have to knead for at last 20-25 minutes … then keep it aside under a wet cloth , until it doubles in size …
Then heat up your oven .. I normally do it at 200 Degrees Centigrade …
do one side of the naan , when done , flip and wait for the other side to get done .. when done , enjoy the garma garam naan ![]()
Re: NaaN Recipe Plzzzz…
i have 2 questions CB
(1) Self raising flour is maida right?
(2) Should i turn on both grills or just the bottom 1?

Nan recipe would be fairly similar to that of pizza dough. I once made a naan out of left over pizza dough, and it came out perfect.
The only thing to consider is that the oven needs to be heated really well, else, the naan will dry and stiffen up. Secondly, the dough should be proofed nicely...at least a couple of risings.

HI Princess ,
there are two types of maida found in the market :
- self raising flour - already has baking powder content in it so you dont have to add much baking powder specially if you are opening a new packet.
- Plain Flour - if you are using this one , then add half a tsp baking powder for every cup of maida...
about the grill question , usually i let the oven preheat on OVEN setting upto about 210 degrees .. then before putting the naan in , I turn on the top and the bottom grill ... but the top one does most of the trick ...
Hope this helps ..
