In Moosa (AS) period, a person namely Samri (who probably was a magician) made a calf for Bani Israel’s worship when Moosa (AS) went to Koh i Toor for bringing ten commandments. When he came back and saw his people worshiping a calf he was angry and punished Samri… So he was able to control Samri and his acts.
Aazar is said to be name of Ibrahim (AS) father who and his people were busy worshiping idols… That was their shewa (daily routine for which they didn’t have any guilt).
So when someone is not Moosa or Ibrahim (meaning don’t follow their teachings), he will follow ways of Samri and Aazar (i.e. worship idols or is slave of his own wishes).
