I remember the period well. Basically Nawaz Sharif was CM of Punjab and Benazir had blocked metal scrap on Karachi’s port. It was all business, but Nawaz portrayed it as Punjab versus Sindh. In Punjab people do prefer those who take a stand, like Bhutto in the past. Shahbaz Sharif has been doing all sorts of gimmicks during his last tenure as CM, while they played friendly opposition in the center SS had to play to the gallery as well.
