14.5 Million people were forced to leave their home ,land , property ...in short every thing.
9.2 Million of them in Punjab .. 500,000 massacred
3.2 Milion in Bengal
1.2 Million in Sindh..
you can calculate the rest of how many came ...
One more and Important point
the displacement in Punjab and Bengal started immediately , that is as soon as the then , rumours of Partition were spread.
In Sindh in stared after , Immigrants started pouring in ,Into Karachi .
and all other about .9 Million from up/Cp came after 48 .....and upto 64
so for me Punjabis and Bengalis had no choice , in Sindh it was a conscious effort , and the migration or rather Immigration from Up/CP was a considered affair, ........after all the partition madness was nearly over............. Period.

Are you joking. How could a bunch refugees, pushed out of North India and after the police actions in Junagadh and Hyderabad, from these two areas, start ethnic cleansing. I think you are confusing Pakistan with Palestine circa 1948. Burqa, I find you to be the most inteligent poster in this forum, but surely this one is the height of exageration.

The reality is that the largest portion of migranst actually settled in Punjab and not in Karachi. A total of 5.5 million refugess settled in Punjab while only 1.5 million settled in Sindh. If Punjabis were preventing peope from settling in Punjab how could 5.5 million settle in Punjab while less than a third of refugees settled in Sindh. .
All the refugees settled in Punjab were from the Lahore and Jalandhar division, and parts of Ambala District. These were and are ethnic Punjabis. Muslim communities from Karnal, Rohtak, Dujana, Pataudi and Gurgaon, as well as from the Chief Commisioner's Province of Delhi were sent to Sindh. The earliest refugees in Karachi came from these regions. Sardar Shaukat Hayat Khan Khattar, the Refugee minister made clear he only wanted Punjabis. I must commend Pir Illahi Bukhs of Sindh, who worked long and hard for the resettlement of refugees.
So one of your so called myth turns out to be a fact. I go through all of them, but that would take up far too much of my precious time.

Bullcrap. One third of urdu speakers settled in Punjab and there was no government machinery in place in Pakistan able to selectively settle people based upon their ethnicities. Most of the urdu speakers in karachi arrived after 48, to get the jobs allocated to them under the 15% qouta for yet to migrante migrants by Liaqat Ali Khan.

Where are these huge communities of Urdu speakers in Punjab. Please tell. There a few people from Karnal/ Panipat in Multan, but even this is a miniscule minority. Fact, all most all the refugees in Punjab were from the Lahore (Amritsar, Khem Kharan and Gurdaspur) and Jalandhar divisions.

It did happened under the support of anti-Hindu elements of machinery. Quaid e Azam was also not in favour of migration of Sindhi Hindus and other minorities from Pakistan (and it was not in the terms of independence to migrate). In order to compel Sindhi Hindus to migrate, riots started in which around 1000 Hindus were killed, which resulted first curfew in Karachi as early as January 1948.

not 5 Million but rather 9,2 Million .... about nearly evenly distributed..... either way from East to WEST of from WEST to EAST.

The instigator of anti-sindhi hindu riots was liaquat ali khan,he wanted to distribute their property amongst the muslim refugees in sindh who at that time were accomodated in refugee camps.
