ones i've heard about pakistan are that all pakistani hindus are a dying breed
The one about Pakistani Hindus is not a myth but it is a truth..
wrong, and full of hate, hindus in pakistan are doing really great, i must say, they are doing better than lower cast hindus do in india, just go to interior sindh and you will find that hindus dominate the business class and they literally "rule" over muslims there financially... talk about swat, where muslims were being killed by indian and us sponsored terrorists, there are more than 200 hindu families, and none of them were even touched... talk about bajor, where there are thousands of sikhs and they openly said we have no problem here... so next time you two bring your Pakistan/Islam hatred in here, look back in your own country first.
but a reality the world knows is that muslims in india are being burnt alive and slaughtered...
now on topic:
myth about pakistanis is that, they jump in everyone's matter, and they are short tempered and they dont mind their own business on the road... another myth is that, they pull legs of their own country men, and very common these days (and sad, but not true) that they are mostly terrorist supporters
myth about indians is that, their food and they stink! honestly this is true specifically for south indians, as far as the middle concerns... another myth is that (and its more like a truth) that they are good in business, small or large...
Hyderabadi biryani, khatti daal, bagharay baingan, mirch ka saalan, tala huwa gosht, etc. Hyderabadi food rocks!
Myths: Mehndis are a Hindu rasam.
Coincidentally, Rasam is a south indian "soup-like" dish
Another coincidence - after posting, read Aceones' take on "them stinking South Indians". Sorry bud, will stay away next time.
I like the objective of this thread - bring out the myths that folks across the border hold about each other, and then bust the myth. Kind of try to bring people together.
It is in poor taste when folks use this to state a "myth" which in fact (per their opinion) is actually not a myth at all.
Indian Muslims love Pakistan more....
**
NOT anymore...and its Pakistan to be blamed for this shift. indian muslims have been disappointed by Pakistan's dismal performance over the last half a century.**
Bhaioon I m talking about Myth. Something that is not a reality.
In real (overwhelming majority of ) Indian Muslims love India and and Pakistani Hindus love Pakistan.

Not really ! Those that did probably moved that side in 1947. I doubt very many Indian Muslims would want to move to Pakistan now.
Can't say since I haven't spoken to any. However, its possible they might be regretting their decision to stay back given the current situation.
this isn't a myth. hindu weddings have this prior to sangeet. again, details depend on what part of india the wedding is at. some have it elaborate, some have it as a tiny ceremony. but almost all hindu weddings have a bridal mehndi ceremony.
well pakistani restaurants do have much tastier food on the average, while indian restaurants all seem to do the same few buffet dishes made to appeal to white clientele. but pretty much every dish i have had at pakistani restaurants is available in india too. so i don't know how it is very different from indian food.
one thing that comes up over and over in such discussions is - indians always try to show how much we are similar, and pakistanis try to show how much we are different. it is comical.
another myth is that lenghas are made the same way in both india and pakistan. I have to disagree here and i've said it before, i love how lenghas are made in pakistan especially some of the designer ones. there is a difference, lenghas are beautiful from pakistan
But the saris are way way more exquisite in India compared to Pakistani ones. Honest observation. it makes sense lenghas aren't worn by all indian ethnic groups as opposed to saris which are worn all over the place, i'm guessing, in india.
so i'm stuck in the middle
Aceones!!! : awww such bullcrap yes pakistanis use completely different spices from europe i forgot
not really Nisha25, have you ever lived next to a south indian? and have you ever been to a place where they sometimes "warm" their food? i've been through this torture, for several years... ask anyone in the middle east "does a mallu stink?" but again that may not fit the "myth" category... but if you are interested, check what they call indians (mostly from south) in australia????
ok on your question about spices, yes people in south india use some spices which are never used by us in Pakistan, and i'm sure even your own indians from other parts of the country dont use them, and I WORK WITH THEM, even your own north indians run away from the office kitchen when some mallu is about to warm up their food...
BUT, i 100% agree on hydrabadi food, its delicious, very tasty, smells very good, and i like it...

iam not mallu.please don't use words like stink. i can say one thing kerala is most beautiful place in india.
about mallu food they are very defferent compare to rest of india.personally iam not a fan of their food. reason for it is they use coconut oil in food which we apply for our hair.having said that its more healthier then normal oil.if you have it suddenly it won't taste good.you need to get use to it .also south india varies from state to state they have their own culture, food, customs
