okay so I wanted to download mysql server. So went to their website, thinking you can just download it from there.. But no you need to be logged on. Ok, I already had an account, so logged on..

But no, they need to know who I am before I can download it now :rolleyes:

so khair I filled in the missing fileds, and this was in the morning.. I am still waiting for it to get approved.

fine I could use an ealier version, which I should have somewhere saved or If I went to one of the other “sites”, I should be able to download it right away.. but why do they force us to do so?

I mean whats the big deal?

yum install mysql

Call them up at help line and ask for the reason of so much delay.

this is prolly because they have alot of MBAs there, who would want to some basic info as to who (and what company) uses their products.

it’s because of trade embargoes in place for certain countries. :chai: Fill any Irani or North Korean address and try to download ANYTHING. :stuck_out_tongue:

I know, so why cant they automate the system? by checking the IP for the origin of request.

well they cant do, or even come near to that :stuck_out_tongue:
I got the file from a different source :wink:
could have gotten it right away.. but just wanted to rant before I did so :snooty:

I cant simply switch over to postgres, as all the servers are running MySQL. :smack:

I hate it when they do **** like this. Turns me away from their products, if I dont use it I wont be buying any support/training from them either.

well its not only MySQL, its Oracle or informix or SyBase etc .. all of them (paid or free) now require to login. Apart from Oracle I had problems with pretty much all of them to download stuff.
