Myoon makeup and hair look help!

Hello everyone!

I am having a very small traditional myoon at home but alll my inlaws and all my most loved family and friends are coming so I want to look good!

I will be doing my own hair and makeup. I would say I am pretty good at hair and makeup not professional standard but def not a beginner and can replicate videos quite well but I can’t re create photos for some reason. My downfall lies with foundation/skin.

On my myoon I want to look glowing dewy fresh look, something a bit more modern as everything else is super traditional something boho chic? I am making my own flower jewellry too.

My cothes are the traditional yellow/pink not too heavy like heavy party wear not full blown bridal.

SO ladies please help me out! Esp those of you who know lots about foundation skin application. I have all the brushes I need and lots of products and I am happy to get any which are must haves!

Can you lovely ladies post ideas for:

Makeup
Hair
Flower jewelry.

Thanks. Much love!

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

I like soft hair for events like this. Maybe soft curls? Unless you want the flowers in your hair as well. Maybe just have flower earrings and bracelets.

For the skin it depends on your skin type (oily? dry?). I wouldn't skimp on foundation because you need good and even coverage. If you have dryer skin and want a dewy look, you might want to consider using something like strobe cream. I have oily skin, so I'd use my usual routine and mattify with studio fix powder but then do concentrated highlighting.
The eyes are important in this kind of look as well... so I'd consider a shimmery wash with a pearly pink/beige. If you want to line your eyes, it shouldn't be too black and a bit smokey because I imagine on the other days you are going to have quite black and defined eyes.

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

Hi stoppit!

Thanks for the help.

I have combination skin oily t zone and forhead and random dryness on my cheeks and around my mouth.

Good idea about not tooo black for the eyes maybe brown eyeliner? I have super greasy eyelids so I need a tonne of primer which makes lighter looks a little harder I think.

Lips? I would say my skin tone and lip tone is like dulce candy the youtuber My Morning Skincare & Makeup Routine UPDATE! - YouTube i think …bobbi brown 4.5. is the shade i wear in foundation which is a pefect match. However my lips are not pink, they are pigmented.

I wanted to wear a flower crown in my hair, but im worried it will look weird with a dupatta!

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

For highlighting, I am in love with NARS Alabaster these days. Its beautiful...not too shimmery where you look oily or greasy. You can use it for eyes, cheeks, upper lip area, etc.

Make sure you use a really good primer, your makeup will look flawless with something like Hourglass or Dr Brandt's Pores no More.

And for a dewy, natural finish...the Beauty Blender rocks!

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

Get a beauty blender, dampen it, squeeze the water out, and then use it to apply a liquid foundation. If your skin is in a healthy state on that day, you can mix some of your moisturizer with your foundation. It will give you a lighter coverage, but it helps with the dewy look.

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

Thanks girls. What kind of eye look would you go for?

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

^A soft brown smokey eye and instead of a black liner, a dark brown eyeliner liner.

Just like this one minus the black eyeliner

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

For a mayun, I think a more golden 'glow' would look really pretty as it compliments the saffron/mayun yellow really well. Benefits' Sun Beam would give you that radiant glow. MUFE HD foundation applied with a buffing brush and set with a translucent powder would photograph beautifully. I'd amp the contouring and highlighting and like stoppit said, do maybe just a 'champagne' colored eye-wash and an eye pencil, kohl. Wear the entire look, don't skip on anything including lipstick, it could be a really pretty, creamy nude topped with a beige/clear gloss!

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

I really like the glowy look Diya Mirza has going on here, particularly her eyes (although less of the black, and perhaps more brown) - maybe something like this in terms of eyeshadow and lipstick? Less pinky blusher though, something more gold would look nicer.

Glowing skin looks always fresh no doubt and your tips are also amazing.........

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

Mad Hatter- LOVEEEEEEEEE will be practicing that look!

What about hair guys?? Does anyone know how to pin a dupatta at home?

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

I would think that you'd need help with pinning the dupatta.
What kind is it? Chiffon? Is there a kinaar on it? How heavy is the work if at all...?

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

Dupatta- you have to cross bobby pins over each other in X's to get the dupatta to stay. I think there are some tutorials on youtube. If I were you, I'd get a friend or aunty to come over and do a practice run for you before the event. You won't be able to set your dupatta yourself.

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

Glad you like! I love that pic, have tried to copy it several times and really like the look.

As for the dupatta, buys lot of bobby pins and safety pins!

You said you wanted a flower crown, maybe do loose curls (with the urls on one side?) and wear the crown, with a loosely draped dupatta on your head?

Have a look at some pictures of mehndis/bridals and see if you can replicate? I think it also depends on how much jewellery you want to wear too, like tikkas/jhoomars etc.

I really like this look, and the fact that the dupatta is far back enough to see the hair/flowers:

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

I pinned my own dupatta for my baat pakki, engagement, mayoun and mehendi - with the help of my family!
I’d say you should get a bumpit to create height and get a “U” shaped pin… its basically put into your head as an upside down “U” so its more secure than bobby pins.

I wish I could post a pic of my mayoun cuz I think my look was similar to what you might want - I had loose curls that just fell down, a naturally “gold” look for my face and flower jewellery. But I wear a Hijab and the mayoun was girls only soo can’t!

Below is a picture of my mehendi dupatta pin up

You can check out some pictures from my mayounbut there aren’t any of my face/hair. I agree with Mad Hatter, go for a gold-ish blush instead of straight up pink. I mixed the two so I still had a golden “glow” (I did my mehendi makeup.. so the blush on the mayoun wasn’t as pink as the mehendi)

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

If you do a flower crown (cute idea!), I think I'd suggest you don't do the dupatta on your head. ORrrr... you could pin it a bit further back on your head.

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

Thanks so much shaza! Can you PM me your photo? You cant have to you can smudge your face out Im just interested in seeing you hair. And thanks for the hair tips!! well invest in a bumpit and u pins for sure. ON THE LIST!

for make up i am think this

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

this is the kind of flower crown i want

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

I had saved this photo earlier to upload here because the highlighting seems similar to Sun Beam that Gina recommended. Looks like similar look to that video as well.

Your duputta is probably light so pinning isn’t really an issue. But having it secure and raised is. From what I remember, you have thick and long hair. If you want loose hair with soft curls, I’d section off the top back and make a bump with backcombing for the duputta to ‘sit’ on. It’s fairly easy to secure the duputta with pins then.

Or you could always not wear the duputta on your head.

Re: Myoon makeup and hair look help!

I think loose curls or a side-messy-braid with loose tendrils to frame your face would look really pretty. You could backcomb a section of hair on the crown of your head to help your dupatta 'stay'.
