Re: My wedding ‘stuff’
Hehehe, I think I know who’s wedding you’re going to attend! Mine is a few days before I think. (the other girl that’s getting married was my sisters classmate so I know who that is!)

Re: My wedding 'stuff'
Amelie..... I went benarasi sari shopping in Jackson Heights last weekend, and brilliant person that I was, I dragged my fiance with me (I didn't have my car, and I wasn't about to deal with a 90 minute train ride each way). To say that it was a mistake is an understatement. But, to be fair, he was patient and helpful, though not as patient or as helpful as one of my girlfriends would be. No one carried just the fabric, and searching online has been a no-go. I found some nice sarees, but it was like one saree didn't go with the other, and the hassle of it all was horrible. I'm gonna pause on that outfit. One day, I hope to get it made, and wear it to a party, because I really like it. But for now, I'm gonna work on figuring out something more... doable. :)
Re: My wedding ‘stuff’
INSHALLAH u will fin what u want:balley:
Re: My wedding ‘stuff’
My mother had it made, I think. She went to Karachi one year and either saw it at the jeweller’s or had it made especially.
Re: My wedding 'stuff'
haha yeah probably... inshAllah youll have a nice wedding too :)
Re: My wedding ‘stuff’
I say go for it when in Pakistan…much easier to find matching fabrics. I do think jamawar over benarsi may be a better choice too
Re: My wedding 'stuff'
Noooo- Jamawar is not the same as benarsi. Benarsi always has golden silver or copper threads in the weaving and jamevar has different color threads or monotones in the weaving but not the metallic kinds. That is why jamawar is softer in touch and its more elegant while benarsi is slightly stiffer and more formal even gaudy at times. My ammis benarsi saris all have silver or gold weaving and i dont really like them but the new jamevar clothes we got made for the wedding are much more sophisticated.
Re: My wedding 'stuff'
okay!
Re: My wedding 'stuff'
