My wedding shopping experience in Islamabad/Pindi

Hi guys!

Ok I’m still in Pak but I thought I’d write an update as I just got the broadband sorted at home.

I’m just going to keep it simple and tell you who I used and why. Although I live in F11 (Islamabad) I did all my shopping in Pindi because everything in Islamabad came to similar prices to UK so whats the point of coming pak?

I am a haggle queen by the way so I got alot of things very cheap.

Wedding invites:
Sigma Prints, Urdu Bazaar. 35 rupees for an invite with two inserts and a favour box. Bargain.
I know alot of people have said Sigma cards are a rip off but I dont know how you could shop anywhere else! The other shops are like tiny stalls. Nowhere to sit and its boiling hot. Sigma cards is a proper shop, theyve got fans/ac’s. We were able to calmly sit down and haggle. The customer service was good and we actually got a cheaper deal than the other smaller shops outside!
Dealt with a Zaheer.

Clothing:
Mohsins Sons Muree Road. Bridal dress 1 lakh rupees
Ok I went to FKG, Zari Palace and a few other bridal shops. I can tell you I felt so comfortable with Mohsin Sons the moment I stepped in. Theyre customer service is unbeatable, the quality of their clothes is amazing and their prices are reasonable. 1 lakh may seem like alot to some of you but I am having a full length gown made with a 1 foot trail. My bridal lengha has so much kaam on it I was expecting them to quote 2 lakh and above as most other boutiques.

Dealt with a Naveed. He was awesome in fact he got us discount on lots of other things we also bought their ie sherwanis, my jahaiz clothes.

Centre pieces:
China Market, Rawalpindi. 300 rupees per centre piece
I had been quoted 30 pounds per centre piece back in UK which me and hubby were not going to be able to comfortably afford. I didnt expect to find a solution for the centre pieces but when I went to China Market i was AMAZED at the beautiful floral centre pieces they were making. Theyre all fake flowers. I am personally so against fake flowers but I gave in because of how classy the arrangements were and of course the price!

Dealt with another Naveed. He knew we were taking it all abroad so he perfectly boxed all the centre pieces for us.

Jewelery:
Al Juwait Jewellers, Sarafa Bazaar. 4 lakh for all my bridal jewelery which included a very large choker, tikka, earrings, ring, punja and two karrey.
We went to a few shops and this guy gave the best exchange, selling and buying gold rate so we went with him. He was also patient unlike many other shops.

Right, thats me done for now! I will update with pics soon as I get them although my bridal dress is taking 2 months to make lol… xxxx

Hey DistinctiveFlair! Ok i live in Isb too, and just got back recently in May after attening my brothers wedding and my engagement :) Ur so right about Sigma Printers! We got my brothers cards from there and also my engagement cards :)
What i wanted to ask was when you got your lehgna made from Mohsin Sons, did you give them a design or choose one from their store? Also LOL i know the Neveed you're talking about! He's very helpful and delivered my engagement dress to me at home as the Mohsin Sons in Moti Bazaar were taking ages! We normally frequent both Mohsin Sons, but i got my engagement dress made from Mohsin Sons Moti Bazaar, as theyre old aquaintances of my Mums..when your wedding and where? Would love to see pix of your lengha, sounds lovely! All the best with wedding preps xxx :)

Hey duffy, sorry I dont live in Pak I live in UK we just have a holiday home here!

Where in isb are you? I get so bored when I come here, people arent very social.

I gave them a photo but Naveed worked with me to come up with a dress that was even better than the photos I was carrying to close to my heart!

Yup my mehndi suit is being made from Mohsin Sons in Moti Bazaar. I find them a little rude and desperate for a sale although Mohsin Sons in Muree Road is completely different!

xxxx

Re: My wedding shopping experience in Islamabad/Pindi

Sorry let me elaborate, i meant to say I live in Isb WHEN i visit Pak..otheriwse im a UK gal like yourself! I live in i-10/2 :) I had my fiance to keep me company while i was in Pak, as he's from there so it was great! Yeah i know what you mean, I mean their quality of work is amazing too, my babhi's mehndi outfit and all my outfits for my brothers wedding were made from the Moti Bazaar one and they were all beautiful! BUT they do make you run around more and wait, more so than Mohsin Sons Muree Rd. What is your mehndi outfit like? xx

Lady Gaga- Congrats on your engagement love! My wedding is not till 2011 :(

Whats ur barat and walima dress colour??

Thanks for the congrats :) I had my engagement last year and Nikkah 2 months ago and shadi in november .. im enjoying all the phases of this relationship..

Re: My wedding shopping experience in Islamabad/Pindi

Ohh congrats lady gaga so your married! Its so cute that your enjoying all the phases. I hope everything goes even better than hoped for your upcoming wedding inshallah.

Were only having one reception. I dont have many relatives in uk and the ones I do live far. As the bharat was on sunday it was difficult for them all to make it down to London again. So its the mehndi on Saturday and reception/nikkah on Sunday.

My main day colour is deep red. The kaam is alot of jewels and gotta. Its a long floor gown with a 1 foot trail and the gown has a slit down the front (like the hsy ribbon dress). The skirt is also deep red with crystals. I am so in love with my dress I just hope its as nice when its made.

What about yours?

Re: My wedding shopping experience in Islamabad/Pindi

Ohhh the dress sounds tooo pretty and just for one lakh!! inshallah it will be good when made.

I have no idea about my dress... I'll go to pak two weeks before the wedding and will do my shopping from lahore, heard its more variety there although im from pindi region and my inlaws are in pindi too. I wont have time get a custom made dress on order :( Just praying everything goes super smooth. I'm just planning everything in my head, feel so helpless that i cant prepare for my wedding.

Hi Distinct- I am glad it is going well for you shopping wise. Thankyou for sharing, its gd u ended up going nw otherwise working full time and sorting weddign stuff out with time restrictions can be difficult.
We also dnt have many relatives in London so it can be missions.

Best of Luck in the rest of ur shopping. Have a safe trip bk x

Re: My wedding shopping experience in Islamabad/Pindi

Mohsin and Sons are great too!

Hey! Hope ur well and sounds like ur having a great trip and god ur saving soooo much money!!

Really wish i went Pak, esp with ur 300 rupees center pieces, mine are costing me £20 for 1! Plus ur gold is a good deal, i got a small set and bangles from here which came to just over £4000 lol. Pak is great for bargains, make the most of it while ur there!

Re: My wedding shopping experience in Islamabad/Pindi
