I got married a month ago in Karachi and decided to share my experience with the vendors.
*Outfits: ***
- Baraat - Baraat day outfit was from Dubai, so it wasn’t the the typical long shirt thing. Mine was more of an Indian Hyderabadi style with more traditional look.
Valima- My in laws bought my valima outfit from a store on Tariq Road called ‘Exclusive’. The dress was gorgeous but I was disappointed with all the stones falling off every now and then. If any of you decide to go there, make sure there is less of stone work. They got me a tea pink dress (long shirt and lehenga) with deep maroon borders. I found a perfectly complimenting artificial jewellery set on Tariq Road from a place called ‘Tariq Centre’.
**Venue:
***mehendi- *Civic Lawn in Gulshan Iqbal. Right next to National Stadium. Loved the venue for mehendi but might not have chosen for baraat.
Baraat- Pearl Banquet on Rashid Minhas Road. Absolutely loved everything about it. It was clean and the services were great too. Their food was delicious and the decor was exactly how we wanted. The ambience was so Royal that we didn’t really feel like we were in Karachi.
Valima- Piam Lawn in Gulshan Iqbal. This one had a good vip package but it could have been cleaner. The entrance to the bridal room is through the lawn so the bride can’t really sit and wait there.
Makeup:
mehendi- my sister did my mehendi makeup and a friend did my hair and dupatta setting. I wanted a simple look so got just that Alhamdulilah.
Baraat & Valima- Anam. I had read such mixed reviews on her that she’s snobby and what not, but I still decided to go ahead with her because she takes only 3 brides a day. And am I glad or what. Loved everything about her studio. She is an amazing person and an awesome MUA. I would recommend her any day. She knows what she’s doing and she listens to you. Her team gives a bride the treatment and pampering that she deserves on her special day. I got a baraat + valima package with the services. Loved it!!
