Hello Everyone
Well I have been rather delayed but I knew since before my wedding I would be writing a thread on my wedding experience as Gupshup helped me SOOOOO much in wedding prep for my own wedding.
Okay so firstly to set the scene my nikkah had already taken place in 2010 so I was leaving from UK to go to pakistan for 2 months for my wedding. Our home is in Bahria town Rawalpindi and my Husbands family home is in Mirpur AK.
The outfits :
My mehndi and baraat outfit was ordered from Hina Khan in Karachi( you can find her on facebook). She did an AMAZING job, I ordereed my outfits from UK and had only email/telephone contact with her and she and her team were a dream to work with. They maintained communication the entire way through and reassured me any changes made would be for the est to acheive the most amazing final result and they did not fail me whatsoever!!
My mehndi outfit wa smy own creation and considering I sent Hina sketched and drafts of the design is was exactly what i wanted. My Baraat outfit was based on a picture already on the Hian Khan FB page , howeever there was one twist, I wanted to use my mothers Banarsi Jamaawar wedding sari to make the gharara out of. Hina did an amazing job, and trust me it was not easy sending such an heirloom over to a designer!!
My mehndi outfit was posted over to me in UK so I could get an idea of the kaam and work, i was so happy on arrival of the outfit i happily allowed the baraat outfit to be sent to me in Pakistan. The baraat outfit arived 2 weeks before my wedding with perfect fitting, amazing kaam and just the right amount of stones to make it sparkle but not tacky. The look was classic and tastfull jsut as i wanted, not a fad design which would look dated easily.
The Pre wedding Beauty plan:
So I visited the most local and fab parlour to myself, Safari Parlour in Safari Villas Bahria town. I visited this place once before my nikkah and simply adored their fantastic service and advice so chose this parlour for my pre wedding beauty. The ladies there advised me to visit once a week for a facial in my 4 weeks prior to the wedding and they did an amaizng job. My skin usually breaks out when i get to pakistan with the humidity and change in weather, but by the wedding my skin was flawless without any makeup and glowing. I had my whole body treatments done from here and was more than happy , also visiting every week was my time to gather my thoughts and destress especially as the envoriment there is so tranquil.
The Hall :
So my mehndi and baraat was booked at AWT Blue Lagoon. My mehndi was in the outdoor tent by the swimming pool with bar be que and my baraat day in the Crystal ballroom. I was only really involved in the whole decor portion of these area’s with my father handling all the rest but I would suggest only 2 things here :
do go 1 week before the wedding and be very specific about your floweres , stage etc. They do have a slightly off handish manner but insist to speak with the flowere decorator who is an amaizngly helpful guy and aims to get done exactly what you want, be clear and specific. I chose the 4 poster canopy grand stage design with lights flowers in white
Also do choose the dessert bar for sweet dish, it looked AMAZING and was the center peice and talk of the entire wedding with the sweet dishes available and size of the whole bar.
Let the wedding begin!!!
Jewellery
Mehndi jewelery : home made tikka made frm an earring
Baraat - Jewllery from Sonar Jewllers Lahore - all chosen via email and everything turned out absolutely perfect!!
Mayoun
So my mayoun was set up by local cateres in our rooftop, i insisted from our lighting guys to have a canopy of lights over the rooftop and it looked beautiful all lit up at night. My outfit was Chinyere combination of yellow pink and royal bluse given to me by my inlaws. I chose this day to do the whole flower jewellry look.
My cousins frm UK had all come over for the wedding and without them it would not have een the same, they were my personal Wedding planners and did an amazing job down to every last detail as i wanted!!
I gave my entrace to song “Bagan di mehndi” from dolly ki aayegi baraat under a dupatta carrie dby all cousins sisters, the rooftop lit up by lights and tea candles.
I sat down on the small stool and awaitied my brother who came and picked me up placing me onto the cushion where we started the rasm of oil and mathai. I must admit i cried a lot at this point as the feeling of getting married finally hit me.
The mayoun finished off with dancing all night long, lots of singing.
Mehndi
For my mehndi i asked for the lead MUA from Safari Parlour to get me ready, she was coming to the house daily during the wedding for all my family to have their make up done and so this day i had her do my make up too. She did agreat job with the very unique look i wanted with arab eye make up and loose hair.
I arrived on my mehndi and made an entrance under a canopy of fresh flowers to the song" sasural ghenda phool" . We then did the rasms on the stage with a mixture of fruit, sweets chocolates and mithai.
On arrival home we danced all night long and i did not sleep until 5 am!!
Baraat
I had to leave for Sobia’s parlour in Islamabad at 7.30 am on the baraat day. I had the signature make up booked with sobia and my sister the party make up with the head MUA at 9 but i wantd to be there extra early . I was not happy i had been told a few days ealrier that i had to go to the branch in islamabad instead of scheme 3 as i was worried i would get stuck in traffic etc , but it ended up being the bets thing that happened!!
When we arrived, the parlour was empty and we were waited on hand and foot.we were first given our own locker with key for my jewellry and clothes, Sobia emerged in her pajamas and sat and had tea with us just chit chatting, and then asked me to sit for my makeup. She was so quick and asked me about everything as she went along, we discussed MAC lipsticks and i wa sso happy to see her use MAC and famous products and most importantly waterproof products. She never once seemed too full on or pushy and aksed my opinion all the way eveb showing me 2 examples so i could choose. The make up was so fresh and smart, natural but sophisticated i was so pleased it made me feel so happy and relaxed and i can honestly say if you feel great at this point you are set for the whole day!! My sister was also given great treatment getting ready alongside me she looked stunning .
Sobia and then left and the head MUA set my hair jewellry and in the end i was so very happy and relaexed nothing like i imagined i would be this day.
Sobia has said I would be ready by 12 and as promised by 12 i was leaving for hte hall and was there on time and relaxed.
I waited in the bridal room having my photoshoot whilst the baraat arrived and had so much time so try pictures i had pics with all family just as i wanted.
Finally i made my entrance into the ahll. my cousnins arrnaged for the lights to be switched off, and my sister arranged for the music to go quiet. We had planned to only have instrumental playing throughout so when i amde my entraance to “Tera Zikr Hai” from guzaarish film booming through the hall everyone would take notice. And so, myself and my brother waited at the top of the grand staircase leading into the hall and as the song came on so loud we started walking down. It was simply amazing, everyone was standing to see what was happeneing and as i walked and sat on the stage it was like a dream!!
The rukhsati was on time and as expected I cried so very much, and as i got in the car my MIL sat with me in the back holding my hand and i cried for a while until i fell asleep. I awaoke as we reached Mirpur.
They simply made me feel like a queen all the way with so much concern for me by everyone.
On arrival home it was rasm after rasm into the house , after all that crying my make up had not budgeed at all!! I finally went into the bedroom for my photoshoot and after more rasms and watching his cousins dance away into the night finally i was back in the bedroom. My amazing husband gave me a beautiful diamond set for my mu dikhai .
Waleema
So my waleema outfit and waleema jewellry was from my in laws side and was Chinyere Couture. I had already been to Lahore before the wedidng for my fitting at Chinyere so i had a fair idea of the look i wanted on the day as this was avery unique design.
I was at the parlour at 11 am, it is one of the most fmaous parlours of Mirpur Nauzhees. Nauzhee herself did my make up and i once again felt relaxed and happy chattering away, she was a lovely lady undertsood me perfectly and once again was not pushy about her ideas but instead did all exactly as i wanted. The end look was veyr model like and i was so happy with the make up it was completely differenct from the day before.
My Waleema hall was Gulshan E Jabeer on entrance to Mirpur and me and hubby made our entrancy to “Kaise mUJHE tUM mILL gAYE”. He thought i looked amazing and my MIL was so proud i felt lovely this day.
Please do elt me know if you have any questions regarding clothes jewewlry make up etc as this site helped me so much i would love to provide hte smae for an impending bride out there!!!
Thanks
