My very first facial

I am getting a facial on the 5th, is there anything I should know?

Re: My very first facial

^ Yes! one thing: Beauty needs no ornaments

Re: My very first facial

What kind of facial are you having?

Re: My very first facial

Do you need one? If you dont need it , dont do it......

Re: My very first facial

I doubt that there is anyone who wouldn’t feel and see the benefits of a good facial, no matter how ‘perfect’ their skin is.

Re: My very first facial

Im getting one next week!!! :hula:

its a hydra something something, sounds really good and it best be.

Re: My very first facial

ok.....what exactly is done in facial....??

can we do it at home...???

what are the benefits of getting one....?

Re: My very first facial

It depends on the type of facial you are having Afia, if it involves something like endermology etc then obviously you wouldn't be able to do it yourself at home unless you happen to have all the machinery at home.

You can do a basic facial at home though......a deep exfoliating cleane, steam bath, pore extraction, face mask and facial massage are the main ingredients to a home facial.

Re: My very first facial

Who gives the facial? Is it done solo or with help?

Re: My very first facial

im so suprised no man has heard of a facial before! men can get them too, they'l clear up your pores and be rid of your blackheads, leaving your skin (hopefully) looking clean and clear.

They can be done solo, although i would definately reccomend getting it done by someone else, doesnt have to be professional person, as long as you'v got all the right products, you should be ok.

Re: My very first facial

Tell that person to give you a nice massage and while they are doing it. Dont think of anything its a way to do meditation.

Re: My very first facial

Keep a towel nearby.

Re: My very first facial

Acha, so thats what a facial is. Thanks.

What was I thinking :smack:

Re: My very first facial

What is so funny?

Re: My very first facial

**Whimsical, **Mine apprently does.

**Shahreen **Its suppose to be a Brightening Boast, if that is what you are asking? I dont have any other information on it. I told her I have acne prone skin and I think its oily but she said my skin was very dry, so probably something hydrating as well?

**lazy_daisy **Well I just want to try something new

*nia_khan **A face massage?
*

Sara516 **A facial is disgusting?

Re: My very first facial

Afia you might find this interesting. This is courtesy of Aanchal/LegallyBrown](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/journal.php?do=showjournal&j=127) posted longgggg way back. I had this saved to learn myself. I hope Aanchal doesn’t mind me posting this.

So gals did you know that if you are over 20 a facial a month is
necessary?
but taking in account today’s pollution i say people over eighteen
should
too comply
working with my mum …i often heard these ‘oooh i am so innocent i dun
use
any makeup shakeup’ girls
they considered facials to be a part of makeup

kher Facials are simply deep cleansing one’s skin, removing all the
dirt and
impurities and dead skin waghera waghera

So kher instead of coughing up $50-$100 a month, one can easily do a
facial
at home

Face it daily cleansing and toning isnt enough when it comes to black
heads
and white heads ewwwwwwwwww
and I am really not comfortable going to a salon and thinking ‘did she
wash
her hands’ or ‘I wonder how many people used that towel’

So easy home facial with guaranteed results
First we gotta cleanse

(even though you dont use makeup and wash your face bout two three
times a
day then also there is dirt on the face)
Take a cleansing lotion or a simple Vitamin E creme would be enough
apply it to the face
and lets not forget that poor neglected neck of yours
remove it with a warm wet face towel

Simple!!
next step

Take a cream such as Vitamin E or Nivea would do
(it has to be thick so it doesnt rub in and vanish)
dab it on your chin, nose, forehead, cheeks and neck
use circular finger motions all over the face
especially the nose and around the nose
This kinda increases the blood supply to the face and brings up the
hidden
white/black heads
circular motions on the forehead, chin and nose are very important
cause
usually these are the areas that are the target of all those nasty
black
heads

a good circular massage lasts around fifteen minutes divided equally
among
the neck and the face
if you are like me ‘kaamchoor’ then ten is ok too

Relaxing!!!
so far so good

Now is the steaming bit
most people are scared of it
they go ..‘oooo my pores would open’
DAH why else are you steaming …
to open pores and let all the dirt out

So no need to rush out and buy a steamer
they are so bloody awkward

Take a Daigchi …a big one
a medium one would do too
say an average sized daigchi

fill it up with water and let it boil
when its boiled turn the stove down and wait till all the bubbles are
gone
and there is just steam coming out of the water

very important part:
Add a pinch of salt in the water and squeeze a lemon

take a big towel cover your head and face and take steam
so that you are comfortable with the steam hitting your face
if you are uncomfy then its not ok
the steam should hit your face after every 3 seconds like a gentle
breeze
which is warm

a good steam lasts around 3-5 minutes
but my formula is
that when the drops of water start dripping down your nose thats the
time to
finish

but dont listen to me I am an idiot

acha again Important part:
Keep a box of tissues next to the daigchi ..
after you are done steaming keep your face covered with the towel …
tatool for the box if tissues and pull three four out
and cover your face with them

Now slowly remove the towel
just make eye holes in the tissue and that would do …i think

leave the tissues for a minute until you prepare for the next step

Take a warm wet face towel and dab a Facial Scrub on it
any would do depending on your skin type

Remove the tissues and start scrubbing your skin in gentle circular
motions
concentrate on and around the nose and the chin

with another warm wet face towel clean the scrub (or you can simply
wash the
face with warm water)

Ok now we have to close up the pores we just opened
So a mask is required
Any depending on your skin works
Mud masks are the best
but if you opt for those friuty ones then its ok too
Apply the mask, leave it for bout fifteen minutes or till it drys
and peel or wash it off
depending on the kind of mask you used

Now the last fun part
Remember the lemon we squeezed earlier for steaming
take that and rub it on the face

Lemons are good toners and astrigents (or however you spell the word)

leave the lemon for bout fifteen minutes on the face and then wash and
pat
dry

Some people would opt for Rose water but i say lemons are better

Done, clean and healthy glowing skin in bout thrity minutes

Re: My very first facial

My mom says noone under 25 shud get a facial, that it ruins ur skin and ages it before its time.. i dunno how true that is, i been using makeup since I was in HS, and its arrite. Not exactly flawless but not bad either. I can live with it i guess..

Re: My very first facial

There's no reason why anyone under 25 can't have regular facials....prevention is better than sure after all.

Re: My very first facial

Sara it really depends on your skin type also. If it tends to get very oil and have acne...it sure is best to do mini facials yourself once in a while even under 25. It will really help keep ur skin cleaner. I didn't start exfoliating and masks till i hit 22. I didn't feel i needed it before. But now i have crossed 25 and have started doing small facials myself. I have noticed how fast my skin gets oily and dull as campare to when i was 20.
I would not recommend those professional facials if you are 20 though. They use all kind of stuff on your face.

Re: My very first facial

Shahreen n Jal pari

thank you very much …i think i should give it a try…

one question…i have dry skin …not very dry but a bit… is it ok for me to use lemon etc. during facial…i mean isn’t it supposed to be used for oily skin…???

plus… i already have some lines like ( ) when i smile…:hehe: so will facial help in this area too…or i should do something else …???
