So does anyone know how maria b’s boutique is in karachi? I’m worried about going way over budget for my wedding…i dunno if i want a lehngha for 100 000 or above …and the whole situation with the valima outfit and how much my in-laws would give me for that…so i was wondering if people know of any good places in karachi where you can get good wedding outfits that are reasonably priced like around 30 000 to 80 000 ?? i guess i’m willing to go upto 100 000 for my shaadi outfit but i’m not sure about my valima :pagli:

I think they're probably just gonna give me the money .....or take me to get it cause i know they won't go out and buy it themselves ........not sure though

lol i guess the same price as any dress would cost...there's no specific "valima dress" or "baraat" dress..its just the look u decide to go for. I think if they're being nice enough to let you choose ur own stuff...give them the same courtesy and try to be conservative in spending (as long as u love hte stuff u get).

i think Sara does have a point when she says how lucky the girls are to be able to choose their own clothes. You don't know how frustrating it is to not being able to select things for yourself. I hate all such customs and I have rebelled against such cultural malpractices.
In punjabis I believe the girl gets to choose the dress for the shadi day but in urdu speaking families, she has no choice but to accept whatever is brought for her.
^In some urdu speaking families, not all. I think it varies from family to family. I have seen some more liberal families let their bahu to be choose everything from clothes to jewelry. That’s how it should be. I am marrying a memon.. hopefully someone whos memon here can tell me what their traditions are so that I can prepare ways to make my MIL let me choose my outfits
my in laws allowed me to choose my own, my walima was on for 75.000 but haggled it to 50.000 - which i thought was reasonable. Walima ones are alwatys less expnsive due to not having heavy work.
Bisoux, i am not into designer stuff so cant help you there but in Karachi, i found Rabi Center on Tariq Road to have really nice, exceptional stuff. Atleast the shop i went to had nice stuff. Unfortunately i cant remember the name but the dresses i bought from there was different, unique and prettier than stuff i bought from elsewhere. Someone i know bought a really nice valima lehanga with alot of kaam for about 8000. I couldnt believe a lehanga cost that much at Tariq Road, and that too as beautiful as it was. I guess sometimes you just strike a good deal.
lajawanti - prices for bridals with work on the border of the outfit strating from 3,5000, i nearly choked so didnt bother staying lol. in stores like these they dont pressure u to buy..................i guess we have to approach them! clothes were nice and lovey but way over my budget!
