Therein lies the tragedy. The staggering amount of wealth and resources VS. the lack of self-sustainability, zero local industry, underdeveloped work ethic, stunted cultural and social progress speaks for itself. The potential to be a boon to the Ummah and to the region was limitless, yet they’ve squandered the opportunity for decades. Their saving grace being the self-styled custodians of Islam, to which they haven’t done much justice.
Poorer countries seem to thrive better, making contributions to the world, despite being in dire straits both economically and politically. Makes you wonder.
