I wouldn't play Afridi and Shahzaib together as both of them are active aggressive... while we need one player to be cautiously aggressive. Akmal needs to open with either Shahzaib or Afridi - personally, I like the first three positions the way they currently are...
I wouldn't play Malik near the end because he's not a big hitter and if Pakistan needs to make up some ground in runs, he won't be able to do so.
Misbah is pretty adaptable and can act as an achor for other players who may not be big hitters, so I would place him between Younis and Malik... and this should be followed by Fawad and then Razzaq.
So my batting order would be something like:
Shahzaib Hasan Khan
Kamran Akmal
Shahid Afridi
Younus Khan
Misbah Ul Haq
Shoaib Malik
Fawad Aalam
Abdul Razzaq
Umar Gul
Saeed Ajmal
Muhammad Aamer
The above is based on the assumption that Pakistan bats first... if they're chasing, then the middle order should be modified based on the situation - possibly with Razzaq and/or Misbah coming in earlier.
I respect your order Umar but want to add few lines about Malik and Afridi.
If you open with Afridi and Shahzaib then chances are Shahzaib will play a bit sensible and Afridi can easily smashes, and since they will get first 6 overs so they can do better for Pakistan. Look if Shahid can make 20 runs in 10 balls, and Shahzaib 20 in 10 and we have first wicket down at 30-35 runs in 3rd or 4th over then Akmal can come and support the inning, later Younus can support for few 2-3 overs.
About Malik being promoted on up, I disagree cuz he is wasting balls, he made 30 something in 30 plus balls and hence left pressure at the end batters. So I guess utilize maximum overs with hitters first.
This is just my opinion, no one has to agree cuz this thread is all about - 'MY Team Order '
first six overs by Razzaq and Aamir
Introduce Afridi to bowl the 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th over
Ajmal for the 8th, 10th
Overs 14,16,18, 20 for Gul
Malik for only one over if needed for variation: the 12th: otherwise have this bowled by one of the quicks
Ajmal then the 15th and 17th and one of the quicks the 19th
In 20/20 i don't think other than first 3 or 4 there shud be any fixed batting line up. One shud keep on pinch hitter and one batsman all through if wickets are in hand.
hmm i see u all are passionate abt cricket, but no one has cricketing mind..... Shoaib did very well 2nd down in last game. He played arnd Afridi And played faster when Afridi was gone.... As long as Malik was on pitch runs didnt stop comming...
Mods as you can see we are having a side-debate on Afridi/Razzaq/Shahzaib and Akmal about openning the inning.
Can you please arrange a poll asking members about their choice of opener for final based on feedback in this thread?
I might even promote Gul ahead of Fawad depending on our score and the match situation (if it is the last 2 or 3 overs). Fawad has spent virtually no time in the middle in this competition so far and there remains a risk that he might waste deliveries under pressure. Gul we know is capable of striking a few lusty blows.
And if and when Mohammad Yousuf comes back into our side, one of the two Shoaib Malik or Fawad Alam (Fawad on present performance) will have to go. With Razzaq back, don't need both Malik and Fawad in the team. And as well as Aamer has bowled here, he will have to make way for Asif when he returns to the side. The rest of the team looks ok.
Twenty20 has shown that solid players like Kallis (almost got SA home yesterday) and Jayawardene can be just as effective in this short format as big hitters like Jayasuriya and Pietersen
need to promote Misbah up the order and bring Malik later may be even after Abdul Razzaq.
No need to change the bowling order. Aamir and Abdul Razzaq followed by spinners. Hopefully no fawad alam in bowling and no more experimentation with Gul's bowling quota.
I am even thinking if they need to replace fawad with someone like Tanvir however after listening to Younis' comments in the post semi final conference about Tanvir I doubt he will play.
