Maybe dealing with more than one condescending vendor has taken its toll…maybe my expectations for customer service are just too high but I have to vent.
Why do vendors think that the minute I question their pricing I am dismissing the quality of their goods?
Why do they come at me with “Oh what you must have seen/purchased was not as good quality as what I am selling”? Am I stupid? Do I look like this is the first time that I have made a purchase of a suit/purse/jewellery?
Why do they want to insult my intelligence? That too with a grin on their face that they may think is reflecting their “amicable personality and good nature” when it really is received as a sarcastic smirk.
Re: My Stuff is Waaaay Better Than The Other Guy's
"baji hum eshpeshall material use kartay hain apnay products may... market may yeh cheez nai milay gi apko" :D
OMG!!! We must be shopping at the same place!!!!
I know that guy!!!
more venting.......
I'm not bothered that you are able to stay in business with your extravagant pricing.....good for you. There is a market for every price level (coughbuntooriginalscough). I know and understand that.
But don't insult me if I disagree with your approach.
Re: My Stuff is Waaaay Better Than The Other Guy's
Isn't it a common, very common thing esp if you are dealing with Pakistani vendors/shopkeepers...??
No matter if you are buying aloo pyaaz or a fancy shmancy suit, they always tell you the same thing if you bring up their pricing as compared to the fellow or shop in the next lane.
"Baji yeh aloo sab se zyada taaza hain...woh tou baasi hain' or'yeh fruit Pakistani hai baji woh saath wala tou Indian fruit baich raha hai tabbhee sasta hai'...(no offense intended to any country or nation or any fruit..!)
or
"Hum original kapra bechtey hain...woh saath wala dukaan daar sasta tou de raha hai, magar woh original nahin hai'...and we all know it is the same frikkin thing..!
Re: My Stuff is Waaaay Better Than The Other Guy's
^ that's just it chips.....and it really gets my goat now cuz I've been around for a few years and I'm not new at this stuff.
I've even been told that because I have lived in Canada for so long "app out of touch ho chukee hain na, aap ko pata nahin kay Pakistani market main kya ho raha hai...."
puhleeze!!!!!
Re: My Stuff is Waaaay Better Than The Other Guy’s
so true - I am sick of being treated like a child and talked down to with such remarks like ‘Aap ko andaaza hi nahee ha market kai’ yah get get buddy
Muzna I am thinking about starting a revolution in Canada, I will make these so called vendors begging for my designs and clothes all the way from pakistan - and then I am so going to jip them
all of this could have been avoided if the vendor simply said, “Wow Muzna, that’s a great price you got! Lucky you. I’m afraid that I can’t match that price but here’s what I can do for you…”
Re: My Stuff is Waaaay Better Than The Other Guy’s
on a serious note, being a vendor and in business, one should ALWAYS be prepared for such questions (and criticism) because that is a consumer’s right and such issues need to be discussed calmly.
In the above example,if you questioned her about the discrepancy in prices (which was your right as a consumer) she should’ve avoided confrontation about how things are substandard in US/Canada than Pakistan ( honestly it is the other way round for most of the stuff and we all know that ).
A good explanation would be clutches, jewelry or any other products come in all types of quality and hence prices. You cant label them as replicas but still there is a difference and no one can judge the quality of anything seeing in pictures. For example, one of the clutches for 8000rs is for 11000rs at Roop Singhar (not the same piece but same shape/design) and someone might be selling it for 1000rs in anther shop which would be same to look at but all plastic. So it would have been a better approach to address with patience without getting defensive or annoying a potential customer.
Klader still wanted to know the name of the store in Brampton where you purchased the clutch. $35 for a clutch is not pocket change. It seemed like it was a challenge to find a clutch in Canada for that price. I would not pay more than $25 for a fashion clutch. Yes I have to wait for mega sales or clearance but it is possible in USA.
Unless something is branded or a status symbol it is not always worth paying mega bucks. Personally I don't many outrageously priced designer bags. They don't even look expensive. In my opinion. By each his own.
Re: My Stuff is Waaaay Better Than The Other Guy's
I have to go back to the mall to find out the name of the store.....I don't go there often and it was a bridal warehouse outlet in the mall at Hwy #10 and Steeles.
They had only three of these clutches and I managed to negotiate him down from $45 to $35.....and then when I had to pay by debit he charged me tax else I would have had them for $35 cash.
I don't have a problem providing the name of the place.....I'll get it the next time I go there.
Honestly though, for someone that can't even offer a simply apology for insults, intended or not, I'm not inclined to go there until I have a need to go for myself.

What meant to say was that Klader seemed to question if you were telling the truth or not abou buying a clutch for that price. I on the other hand know it is definitely possible. I have about 25 plus cluthes in all the fashion colors and they are beautiful (I always get compliments on them) for $25 or less (not including tax though). I personally think that shoes and cluthes are more costly in Pakistan ESP in the higher end stores like stylo and such. I've heard that Canada ESP Brampton is a bargain hunters delight. A lot of these cluthes come from China. The merchandise from china has vastly improved in quality from yesteryear a.

sad wasn't it?
I also found the same clutch in another store in downtown Toronto and it was marked at $185.00. The very same clutch!!! Right down to the manufacturing label sewn inside!!!
Does that mean that mine is of inferior quality or that my retailer managed to cut his profit margin and sell it for less?
Re: My Stuff is Waaaay Better Than The Other Guy's
Muzna, which clutch was it?
I bought 2 clutches from a shop in Mississauga a lil over 5 years ago...$25 each....they're very fancy and cute and I liked em, but they looked nothing like the ones in the klader thread...rather than crystals or stones, they're sequins and beads etc.
Re: My Stuff is Waaaay Better Than The Other Guy's
The one that I bought is like the first one in the Klader thread.....covered in Swarovski crystals.
I have others that have beads and stones and are nice but the shine/reflection of Swarovski crystals is just completely different.
