My son Admission..Punjab college ISB Or Cadet College Hassan Abdal.

My son has been selected in Punjab College Islamabad in class 11 (Fsc pre medical group). He has applied for Cadet college Hassanabdal as well.

May I request dear members, which college is better for him? I shall be thankful for your advice.

Re: My son Admission. Please advise.

There was a thread in All views recently about Hasanabdal college......quite scary.

Thanks brother for your advice but I went through that thread, it is quite old thread. I want latest position. And I want to compare Punjab college ISB with Cadet College Hassan Abdal.

Re: My son Admission. Please advise.

Cadet college hasanabdal...let him go there.

Thanks a lot for your advice.

Re: My son Admission. Please advise.

It depends what you want out of him after his FSc. If you want him a Doctor, there is no need of a cadet college. Infact medical merits are as high as 85 percent. So he will need to study harder and harder so as to get max. marks. Cadet colleges involve students in a diversified environment letting them to groom their personalities. It's good but it will not work if you want him a doctor. Punjab Colleges are really study-oriented. They train students to get max in FSc and that provides them a path to a med college.
you send him to GC Lahore or FC Lahore or Punjab College ISB/LHR if he has to be a doctor

that's why you shouldn't have called me bro or sister without getting acquainted with the forum.

Thanks for your good advice. I will send him to Punjab college InshaAllah. God bless you.

Well no need to thanks. It's what my opinion is. I have just done my FSc (Pre Engg). Infact, the number of students getting higher & higher scores in FSc is increaing tremendously. Last year, in Lahore Board there were around ( I read it in Jang newspaper during August 2008 ) nearly 2100 FSc students scored A+ grade. ( A+ grade is only awarded to those who get 880 + marks in FSc.) And believe me, there were only around nearly 700 from PreEngg and 1400 nearly from PreMed. And they are from one Board only.
Infact, my own cousin who had got 901 in her FSc failed to get into any Medical College of Govt. of Punjab. She is studying MBBS at LMDC a private med college where her father is destined dto pay RS 5 LAKH PER YEAR.
sO THE BOTTOM LINE IS

'' Cadet colleges like Hassanabdal are excellent ; they groom their students ; develop them ; involve them in too many extracurricular acts but most of their students do not get excellent score in FSc. A high score in FSc may not be a criteria for determining the abilities of a student but for getting admission to a med college not only a high BUT A VERY VERY HIGH FSc score is needed. Low FSc marks can let you into PVT MED COLLEGES but there fee is in lakhs. In Govt Sector the colleges are more reputed and standardised and you have to pay only 20 thousands a year as tuition fee''

I hope you get my point.

At NUST, there are more students 4m cad collg because
1. mostly only cadets can clear the Physical ISSB test
2. in normal admissions (not via ISSB) FSc score is not much considered Entry test is considered

But NUST has civilians too and they dont require the physical ISSB.

apple2005,

I went to Cadet College Hassan Abdal. I spent the best 5 years of my life there. Its a great place and a great experience if your son is lucky enough to attend.

I guess you have to figure out what you want out of it. What is your goal? If it is to just get marks in exams and nothing else, send him elsewhere... maybe enroll him in some training institutes that just concentrate on fsc exams etc. and he'll be fine.

If you want great education and grooming and discipline, coupled with a focus on achieving excellent results in exams, you should definitely consider Cadet College Hassanabdal. You'll be doing your son a huge favor. Your son will have some of the brightest kids as friends and he'll get the opportunity to develop into a bright young lad.

Ofcourse at the end of the day, nothing is guaranteed, but if hes a responsible kid, has ambitions, is half decent in studies, you have nothing to worry about. Your son will be learning way more than whats in the books and will have an edge over the others when he steps out in the professional world.

I dont necessarily agree with DOVE. He/she is making it sound like there is less emphasis on studies. Not true. Sure there are extra curricular activites and your son will learn and enjoy doing alot more than just reading books, but when its time to study, trust me, they study like there is no tommorow.... and the results are usually excellent.

Goodluck!

i need advice ,pl tell me the procedure to get admission in engg/medical college in pakistan on foreign seat .i have done A level from uk

I never said that NUST has not got civilians. I only said that there are more students from cadet colleges through ISSB stream of selection. In case of normal selections ( through NUST Admissions Test ), no doubt there are civilians.
