Last night I had this dream and it’s bothering the heck out of me. Interpretations welcome.
Description (as best as I can recall):
I’m visiting my folks in India - some sort of medium intensity celebration going on - large apartment in Mumbai where you can see 3 back to back rooms (the center one being largest) from the entrance foyer - whole place is festive, some people are eating in the farthest of the 3 rooms, some have finished eating and gossipping the large room - lots of people entering and some preparing to exit in the first room. I am in the large room - suddenly a Muslim family enters the middle room (I think 3 women, one of them in a burka/hijab? - the fully covered type of gown - and two men - there might have been a boy too but not sure). They seem to be smiling and the burka woman has a vessel - she walks quickly to the doorway between the 2nd and 3rd room where there’s some sort of rug or something. She says “on occasions such as this it is our custom to…” as she talks, she is taking small dollops of what looked like solidified ghee and is arranging them in some pattern on the floor - she puts the 3rd dollop down as she says the word '…custom to" -----
At this point I start yelling ‘what the heck are you doing? take that stuff out …out …out’ and I drive them out of the house. They have a pained look and withdraw - one of the un-burka’d women is the last to leave and she come close to me, has a hand on her chin and looks at me for a second and leaves…
Then everyone in the family is averting and avoiding me - my mom says ‘they are in 316…’ and has this pained expression. My dad says ‘when we were relaying the water pipes, they are the one that suggested we do it this way instead of the old way’…one more family member (my sister I think) looks at me with a such a pained and pitiful look …
At that moment I realize I have just insulted their close friends that live in the same building! I want to shout "look, i didn’t know they were your friends… I thought they were like some pushy jehova’s witness groups that just walk in and start leaving things (like flyers, books, small buttons etc)…but I realize they will not understand what I am saying because the Jehova’s witness type of invasions don’t happen in India…atleast I am not aware of it.
I am trying to figure out what the message of this is…I really don’t think I am a bigot … is it just a random effect of my reaction to some posts in GS? is it something else?
In the previous apartment that my parents lived in our neighbors in the same floor were a large Muslim family and friends!
hmmmm. A lot of things in your dream make sense except the number 316. If that number is changed then your dream will make perfect sense unfortunately the number could be one of three combinations. Please notice how consistently the number 3 appears in your dream, 3 rooms, 3 women and 3 men (yes there was a boy) and the third dollop of ghee on the floor and hence three possible number combinations. I think I know the three possible numbers but the interpretation to your dream depends on which number you saw. I will advise you to think hard and post the right number here.
And Mr. Smith, please dont make fun of this particular dream, I wont if I were you.
I thought about it some more - the one additional thing I remember that I did not capture in the 1st description is that my grandfather also came and gave me a real angry look (didn't say a word) when I drove them out
All I can think of is that you done something (possibly helpful ie getting rid of the intruders) and your family/ loved ones disagreed and showed their displeasure which got you to think that what you did wasnt the right thing to do.
I don't htink ANYONE on gupshup has ENOUGH knowledge, OR skill to interpret Dreams. Best we leave it as it is... It is not wise as advised by the Prophet pbuh to interpret someone's dream without knowledge in these matters.
As ashtray points out, the number 3 seems of significance in your dream. 3 is a sacred number as it reflects the holy trinity. It is clear that the Muslim family is religious and the woman is conducting some form of ritual. The overall context is a celebration or party.
In the past, the Muslim family helped with the water pipes. Water represents cleansing and purity. The pipes are the conduit for the cleansing. Thus, the Muslim family has previously brought the cleansing and purity of religion into the home and the celebration involves some religious event for which they are important participants.
Your 316 is not three hundred sixteen. It is 3 --- 1 --- and 6. The 3 is sacred. The one is indicative of selfishness and an egocentric person. The 6 represents love, compassion and forgiveness.
Your dream involves you being a self centered person who has rejected religion and/or your faith and your behaviour at the party/celebration shows that your family was/is willing to extend you love and forgiveness for your transgression but you rejected it or are rejecting it.
WHY YOU DREAMED IT. You probably have done something recently that you feel guilty about. You wonder whether you have questioned your faith or committed some sin against your faith.
